Andrew Petersen Obituary

Andrew Robert Petersen March 11, 1982 - July 25, 2018 Poway Our Andrew passed away suddenly of heart failure in the early morning of July 25, 2018. Although he had been in poor health for several years, his passing was totally unexpected. He had just started the process for a kidney transplant through Sharp Memorial and was upbeat and optimistic.Andrew was born in San Diego on March 11, 1982. He was the oldest of 7 children. He grew up predominantly in Poway. At Poway High School, he was active in peer counseling and the speech and debate teams. During his middle school and high school years, Andrew was very active at Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed the youth group activities and camps. He also loved the youth choir and the annual musicals - once even playing God! He graduated from Azusa Pacific University (APU) in 2004 with a major in journalism. The highlights for him while at APU were his semester spent in Yosemite and his work on the school paper, especially as an editor. After college, Andrew got the job he had wanted since he was seven. He signed on as a Skipper on the Jungle Cruise at Disneyland. It was the perfect showcase for his sense of humor. His next assignment was Indiana Jones where he met his soulmate and future wife, Lauren. They were perfect together - loving, supportive, and sharing the same humor. Just short of two years ago, they got married on the shore of Bass Lake.Andrew will be remembered as a loving son, brother, friend and most importantly, husband. Andrew had a love of words, reading, talking, puns and funny stories. Most of his writing was humorous - often irreverent or baseball themed - check out his blog "Tripping Baseballs." He was an extremely avid baseball fan and everyone knew that he acknowledged only one legitimate baseball team - The Chicago Cubs.Andrew is survived by his beloved wife, Lauren; his parents, Bob and Margaret; his siblings, Matthew (wife Karen and daughter Abigail), Kathryn, Christopher, Lauren, Robby and Jonathan.
