ROGER K. GROOMS
WAVERLY — Roger K. Grooms, 63, of Waverly, Ohio passed away after a short battle with cancer on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at the Pavilion at Piketon. Roger was born January 23, 1955 in Pike County, son of the late Leo and Ethel Mae Satterfield Grooms. Roger was a 1973 graduate of Western High School and a former Chemical Operator at U.S.E.C.
Surviving are two brothers, Robert Grooms and wife Tammy of Piketon, and Terry Grooms of Waverly; two sisters, Karen Chandler of Waverly, and Rosezetta Williams and husband Ron of Piketon; five nephews, Matthew Cottrill, Ryan Williams and wife Laney, Nathan Cottrill and wife Ciara, Jarred Grooms, and Dustin Grooms and wife Amanda; four nieces, Melicia Gainey, Beth Marhoover and husband Brad, Sarah Moore and husband Mike, and Rachel Mootz and husband Kyle; nine great nieces and nephews, Mckinley and Arabelle Gainey, Alyssa, Landon and Kerrigan Marhoover, Carter and Gracie Moore, Judah Cottrill, and Jacob Grooms; and one brother-in-law Randy Cottrill and wife Carol. In addition to his parents Roger was preceded in death by a sister, Connie Cottrill; a brother-in-law Frank Chandler; and nephew in-law Brian Gainey.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 28, 2018 at White Oak Cemetery in Peebles, Ohio with David Roosa and Jarred Grooms officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM on Thursday at the Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly.
