Arthur Artis

Arthur (Tree) Artis, age 77, a native of East Chicago, Indiana made his transition into God's kingdom on Monday, February, 17, 2020. Arthur was a graduate of East Chicago Roosevelt High School, Class of 1963. After graduating, Arthur worked for five years at US Steel. He then moved to Albion, MI and started a career at Albion Industries where he retired after 25 years. He then returned to Northwest Indiana to assist his dad in the operation of his popular store A&D Liquor on 11th Avenue in Gary, IN. Arthur was preceded in death by his mother - Mildred (Gaye) Wilson, stepmother - Delphine Artis, father - Allen (Tree) Artis and brother - Carlton Rollins. He leaves to cherish his memory: daughter, McKenzie Wills of Birmingham, Alabama; two grandsons, Matthew and Malachi; sisters: Camille Mitchell of South Bend, IN, Aretta Artis of Los Angeles, CA, Llana (Joseph) White of Indianapolis, IN; brother: Terrance (Priscilla) Rollins of Chicago, IL, special friend Hazel Lias of Albion, MI, special cousin Ernestine Williams of Hammond, IN, as well as, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. with Homegoing services to follow at 11:00 a.m. all services at First Baptist Church, 4911 McCook Ave., East Chicago, IN. Interment at Fern Oak Cemetery, Griffith, IN .
