L.C. Smith Obituary

L.C. SMITH Gary, Indiana L.C. Smith was born on November 20, 1940 in Yazoo City, Mississippi. He was the third child of Napoleon and Molly Smith. He received Christ at an early age after his parents relocated to Chicago, Illinois. L.C. attended Dunbar Vocational High School where he graduated. He went to enter the workforce and labored at several jobs until he entered his final destiny for the United States Department of Agriculture (FSIS-MPIO). L.C. met and later went onto marry Nona Holt on January 19, 1965. To this union was born Renee, Lamar, and Danita. His eldest son is Ernest Hasty of Palm Springs, California. On Thursday, August 21, 2008 at the Methodist Hospital Northlake in Gary, Indiana, L.C. made his transition at 5:45 a.m. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Almedia Holt; and one nephew, Marshaun Smith. L.C. leaves to cherish his memories of 43 years, wife, Nona Smith: 2 sons, Ernest Hasty & Lamar Smith; 2 daughters, Renee Smith and Danita Bradley; 14 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 5 brothers, Johnnie Smith, Robert Smith, Willie Smith, David Smith, & Larry Smith all of Chicago, Illinois; 4 sisters, Charlie Mae Wright, Bobbie Foster, Ruth Smith, & Linda Hampton all of Chicago, Illinois; brothers-in-law, Richard Jones & Leroy Jones of Chicago, Illinois. He also leaves god-brothers, Jessie Earl Jackson & Ronald Miller of Chicago, Illinois; a special cousin, Lee Stephenson of Chicago, Illinois; his auntie, Tressie Holmes; and a host of very special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation Thursday, August 28, 2008 from 9 to 11:00 a.m. Funeral service immediately following at 11:00 a.m. All services at the Guy & Allen Chapel, 2959 W. 11th Ave. Professional services rendered by: Guy & Allen Funeral Directors, Inc.
