Larry Anderson Obituary

Larry E. Anderson Sr., age 73 of Gary, Indiana passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Methodist Southlake Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born May 14, 1948 to the late Matthew Sr. and the late Bennie Mary (Hamer) Anderson in Gary, Indiana. He graduated in 1967 from Roosevelt High School. After graduating, he was drafted into the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. Larry made his life long career at Gary Sheet & Tin Mill where he dedicated 37 years. He retired from there 18 years ago in 2003. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, two siblings, Mary Helen Cooper and Willie Anderson. He leaves to cherish his memory, 1 son Larry Anderson Jr., 1 daughter Ashley Anderson, 3 brothers Matthew Anderson Jr. of Gary, Indiana, Michael Anderson Sr. of Merrillville, Indiana and Anthony Anderson of Chicago, Illinois, grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

All services will be held at Powell-Coleman Funeral Home, 3200 W. 15th Ave., Gary, Indiana. Visitation: Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Family hour – 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Funeral: Friday, June 25, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Interment Ridgelawn Cemetery, Gary, Indiana Mask must be worn at all times

Larry was a child hood friend we grew up together in Delaney Projects, we had so much fun together growing up he was like a big brother to me & my sister. My parents would trust the Anderson brothers around us because they were always polite and manerable. Well brought up. He grew to be a fine man respected and loved by all who really knew him. We had so much fun growing up, Larry I will realyl miss you may you rest in Heaven, your friend Sandra. Matt if you ever need a shoulder or someone to talk to please don't hesitate to call.
