Robert Garrett Hess Sr. age 76 of Highland, IN passed away July 24,2009; he is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Amelia "Millie"; two children, Robert G. Hess Jr, of New York City, Susan (Bart) Cashman of Munster; niece, Melissa (Clyde) Blagg of Griffith; nephew, George Hess III of Griffith. Preceded in death by his parents George and Mildred Hess Sr.; one brother, George Hess Jr. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 29, 2009 10:00 am directly at Redeemer Lutheran Church (9009 Kennedy Ave) Highland, IN; Rev Arthur Burkman and Rev. Eric Kleinschmidt officiating, burial private, friends may visit the family on Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman (two blocks south of Ridge Rd) Highland, IN. Robert was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Chicago Tax Club, graduate of Hammond High School and Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management with a BS degree in accounting, avid gardener, outdoor sportsman, enjoyed reading, army veteran of the Korean conflict, an accountant for U.S. Gypsum, Morton International, and Rohm & Haas, worked as an engineer for Indiana Harbor Belt, upon retirement employed by K & C wholesale florist working with flowers and greens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Redeemer Lutheran Church.
