Viseslav Djordjevic Obituary

VISESLAV "WILLY" DJORDJEVIC Valparaiso, Indiana Age 31, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 14, 2007 as the result of a tragic accident. He was born in Belgrade, Serbia (Yugoslavia) and came to the U.S. with his parents in 1976. Willy was employed as a systems engineer with R.A.S.K. Fire Life Safety, L.L.C., and formerly held a position with McDaniel's Fire Systems. Before attending college, he was a graduate of Portage High School, Class of 1993. He was a member of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church. From the time of his youth, he was looked upon as a "jack of all trades," and was an expert mechanic and outstanding builder and craftsman. His true 'year-around' passion came from 'off roading' with sand rail dune buggies, snow mobiles and dirt bikes. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Predrag and Borisav Djordjevic. Willy is survived by his loving wife, Tracy (nee Szostek); loving parents, Miodrag "Mike" and Gordana Djordjevic of Portage; dear sister, Ljubica (Dragutin "Drago") Popovic; his grandmother, "Baba Djurdja" Djordjevic; 2 nieces, Savka and Milana Popovic; uncles, Slobodan Djordjevic of Lake Station, Cvetko Georgevich of Chicago, IL; aunt, Olga Reupert & family of Crystal Lake, IL; in-laws, Pat & Tina Szostek & brother-in-law, Mike (Sarah) Szostek, both of Portage. Also, numerous other relatives, Kumovi & dear family friends - both here, and in Serbia. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. Directly at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, 9191 Mississippi St., Merrillville, with Rev. Marko Matic, officiating. Interment, Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point. A Pomen Service will be offered at 7 p.m., Friday. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Sava Church in Willy's memory would be appreciated. Arrangements were completed by Savich & Semplinski Funeral Directors

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Remembering Willy as a young teen, he was nice, quiet and as always busy with a project. As an adult, many years later, we met again. I wasn't at all suprised at how mature and friendly he was, as he was the first to extend the friendly greeting that reintroduced himself. We had a wonderful chat. He was very happy with where life had taken him. He was very excited about his future. He was as gentlemanly as I would have expected, as he came from a wonderful and loving family. My heart hurts for you all who loved him so much. Please accept my sincerest condolences and prayers .

I have not seen Viseslav, Ljubica, and parents in 14 years, Since we graduated. When my mom called to tell me I was in complete shock. I remember hanging out with him during Tecta Dana's Slava and during school.

As a friend of Ljubica's, I came to know Willy very well. In my mind he will always be Ljubica's little brother who had a fascination with cars and dune buggies. I am so sorry for his families loss and he will be greatly missed. One day, death will be no more, nor mourning, nor outcry, nor pain, for the former things have passed away - Revelation 21:4

Tracy,
I am extremely sorry that this happened. Even though I've only met Willy once, I still heard nothing but good things about him and how you guys were perfect for each other. I'm sorry for your loss and if you need anything, just ask. I'm a phone call away, anytime. Keep your chin up, I'm here for you.

It has been over 10 years since I saw Viseslav last. I have many memories of Vis from Sunday School, folklore and St. Sava Day Program performances.
