Bina Meyer Obituary
Bina Mae Meyer, New London, age 87, died at home April 27, 2016. She was born January 3, 1929 in New London, WI the daughter of the late Albert and Alethea (Landers) Velie. She graduated from New London High School in 1947.
She was married on June 10, 1947 to her loving husband Leon P. Meyer in New London, WI where they lived throughout their married life. She worked at various occupations and retired with her husband in 1992. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and researching family genealogy. She and Leon enjoyed traveling, square dancing, bowling and playing cards with friends for many years. She volunteered as a Sunday School Teacher, Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, 4H Leader and bowling secretary throughout the years.
Survivors include her husband, Leon, two daughters, Sharon Smudde (Harold Thompson) East Bernstadt, KY, Ruth Parish, Waupaca, WI; two sons, Phillip Meyer (Bonnie) Bowler, WI and Lee Meyer (Teresa) Homosassa, FL. She has six grandsons, one granddaughter, six great grandsons, one great granddaughter and two great-great granddaughters. She is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Clyde Meyer (Gladys) Bear Creek, WI and Wesley Meyer (Mickey) Oneida, WI.
She was preceded in death by her parents, six half-brothers, one half-sister and one brother-in-law, Duane Meyer (Alice).
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service to be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the American Legion, 840 E North Water St., New London, WI. Bina's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday at the American Legion from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service with fellowship to follow.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Bina's name. Donations can be sent to Valley Funeral Home in Appleton, WI.
The family would like to thank Bina's neighbors for their unending kindness.
Special thanks go out to the staff at SouthernCare Hospice, especially Kimberly, Gaylee and Elaine for their kind and compassionate care during the final days of Bina's life.

Our sympathy to the family on the passing of Mrs Meyer. Remember her as always being hellpful and kind. She helped my Mom w/the 4-H projects and we picked apples from their farm orchard. She always had the time to talk to someone --

Bina was like a second mother to me when I was growing up. Our two families were together almost every weekend. I cherish those childhood memories with my cousins, Sharon, Phillip, Lee and Ruth. Bina introduced me to venison and would always work miracles with Jello salads. I remember how smart she was, what a hard worker she was and how much she loved her husband Leon. I remember her laugh. She will be missed. May all those who love her receive the free gift of eternal life given to us by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
