Gary Hinske Obituary

Gary S. Hinske

Gary S. Hinske, age 62, of Menasha, was surrounded by his family as he passed on to his Heavenly home on Monday, March 9, 2015, following a courageous battle with cancer at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. On March 11, 1952, Gary Steven was born to George and Beverly (Meton) Hinske in Neenah. He graduated in 1970 from Menasha High School and later from UW-Oshkosh in 1974. He ran Jitters Bar for a while, later worked for Glatfelter, and ending his employment with Quality Printing. On January 24, 2004, Gary wed the love of his life, Jessica Pomeroy, at Wailea Beach in Maui. He loved to travel with his wife and sons. Gary and Jess made it to at least half of the Major League Baseball Stadiums. He loved walking half marathons with Jess and Mike, coaching and playing baseball with his sons, golfing, fishing, camping and solving crossword puzzles. Gary was known to be a risk taker, jumping off cliffs or swinging into waterfalls weren't a challenge. He had a large collection of records and listened to The Beatles all of the time. With Gary's dry sense of humor, he was the master at telling bad jokes. Gary made a point to visit weekly with his mom. Gary loved God and faith was a very important part of his life. As a member of Christ the Rock, he taught Sunday School there for many years. His four sons were his pride and joy and was very proud of each of them. He had three very precious grandchildren that held a special place in his heart.

Gary will be missed by his loving wife, Jessica; his sons: Matt (special friend, Keina Moede), Reggie (Kari), Mike (Sara), and Jon; grandchildren: Jaxson, Weston, and Kora; his mother Beverly; brothers: Mark (Connie) and Dean (Kathie); his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Tom and Donna Pomeroy; sister-in-law, Rachel (Lane) Kufner; brother-in-law, Tom (Carissa) Pomeroy; other family members and friends, especially, Armenrah Loving, Jim Johnson, and the Boucher family.

He was preceded in death by his father, George.

A Celebration of Gary's life will be at 1:00pm on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Christ the Rock, W6254 US 10-114 in Menasha. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Goggins and the staff of FVHO, St. Elizabeth Oncology, especially, Cheryl, the staff in the ER and ICU for all of their comforting care and support given to the family during the past months.

Jess,
I know how special Gary is to you.I can only imagine how painful it is, losing someone so dear to you. I am so very sorry for your loss. I know you will be able to look back at the happy memories you two shared. You have every reason to smile, just knowing he is looking down from Heaven. God has gained another angel! You and your entire family are nothing short of amazing, the love you have for God, and for one another is a bond that cannot be broken. I pray that the sorrow you have now will become less with time. Love and prayers to you.

Haven't seen Gary in awhile. My images of him all seem to involve Butte des Morts Jr. High where he was, inevitably, hanging out with Jim Johnson. And, yeah, they WERE having fun.

A remember a good-hearted guy with a constant sense of humor, and it sounds like he had the kind of family, and life, he deserved. Should have gone on another 30 years. My condolences to his family and friends.

To Gary's Family - I graduated from MHS with Gary and I'm sure I can speak for many Bluejays in saying that Gary could always be counted upon for his huge, generous smile and upbeat attitude...infectious. He was always this way. What a spirit. I send my deepest condolences.

Happy Birthday Gary to my best life long friend since Little League. Spending your 63rd birthday with Jesus. It was on March 11, 1973 that Gary shared his humor and fun for adventure. On his 21st birthday he had to drive his motorcycle through the entire UW-O Campus. Only thing is all he was wearing was his motorcycle helmet. Yes, only his helmet. I am blessed to have spent the last few months visiting Gary and I am here to share friends; Gary faced suffering and death the same as he faced life. God, family, faith, love, grace, peace and love for all. Jess- our hearts go out to you and your love for Gary shined like a bright light. To the entire Hinske family; my second family, my heart goes out to you as well. I love you all so much. Jim and Linda Johnson

To Gary's Family,

We were so very sorry to hear of Gary's death. I met Gary when I was in high school and I babysat for his boys Matthew and Reggie, and after high school, both my husband Mike and I spent a lot of time in Jitters. Gary was a great person. No matter what the situation, he always had a smile.
