Thompson, Jeffrey "Jeff'

Jeffrey "Jeff" Thompson, age 49, of Baraboo passed away peacefully amongst his family on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015 after a three year long battle with cancer.

Jeff, son of John and Patricia (Lychalk) Thompson, was born in Fulton, New York on April 8, 1965. On June 2, 1990 he was united in marriage to Dawn Sugden at Peace Lutheran Church of Neenah.

He was employed at LaMasney Construction for 22 years starting as a general laborer then worked his way up to being a job estimator. He also served as a firefighter on the Baraboo Fire Department for 27 years, before he died many of which he served as Captain of the Aerial Company. He was very involved in the community coaching many youth sports teams and participating in sports leagues such as Tuesday night horseshoes and Thursday night bowling league.

In his spare time Jeff was a very avid hunter, spending many hours out in the field. Fishing, watching Wisconsin sports teams, and cooking were all hobbies he enjoyed and enjoyed doing with family and friends. Most of all he loved spending time with his wife and sons, and taught them all he knew about his hobbies.

Survivors include his wife, Dawn of Baraboo; sons, Benjamin of Madison; Nathan (Kayla Fuller), Andrew, and Jacob all of Baraboo; brothers, John (Sally) Thompson of Menomonee; Jerry (Sonja) Thompson of North Freedom; sister, Judy (Shawn) Thayer of Ashland; father-in-law, Thomas (Karren) Sugden of Freedom; mother-in-law, Jane Sugden of Neenah; sisters-in-law, Carrie (Rob) Killian of Freedom; and Kim (Gary) Bunnell of Black Creek; as well as nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents, Ted (Marie) Thompson; maternal grandparents, John (AddeBelle) Lychalk.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Carl Schroeder officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the church as well as from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Wednesday. Burial will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spencer-Johnson-Schell Cancer Support Team of Baraboo, Outdoor Adventures for the Physically Challenged, or St. John's Lutheran Church. The Redlin Funeral Home is assisting the family.
