Joe was ALWAYS a happy face to greet, full of encouragement and many good laughs. He supported our lousy softball team with enthusiasm. I loved my vista with him when I traveled back to Brillion. He was a great husband, father and grandfather. He is singing with the angels, no audition necessary. We had fun naming various women in the flower department, his wife Rose, I was Kriss-anthemum, we had a few pansies and petunias and violets...all good fun and precious memories.

A dear and loving and talented Brother. And he beat me to Heaven! I expect he is already in the Heavenly Choir.

It would be 50 years ago that Joe ("Mr. Gilsdorf" to me) and I (I was likely "hey kid" to him) sang together in the 'Brillionaires' Barbershop Chorus; his joy and energy, not to mention his warm welcome, made a real impression on those of us high school boys who were invited into that circle. I can close my eyes and still hear his quartet delighting the audience with their simultaneous mish-mash of four popular songs--I think he sang "How much is that doggie in the window" . Joe's welcoming friendship has continued over the past decades when I would return to Holy Family. My sympathies and prayers are with you, Rose, and with your family. May you be blest with all wonderful memories of his life well lived in service to family, community and church.

Aunt Rose and family, It is difficult to find words to express our sadness. Joe Gilsdorf was a true gem and one in a million kind of man. Faith, family and fun, in this order was so important to him. He was so kind and giving of his time and talents to family, friends and his community. He WILL be missed by so many. Sing with the angels “Uncle Joe” and Rest In Peace...
