Wendy Ritchie Obituary

Ritchie, Wendy Sue

Wendy Sue Ritchie, age 57, passed away after a short illness on November 20, 2016. She was born on March 31, 1959 to Roman R. Ritchie and M. Sue Ritchie in Clintonville, WI.

As the oldest of 4 children, Wendy happily took charge as a born leader. Her siblings were always amazed at how she could talk to her parents into anything. Those skills would serve her well throughout her lifetime. Wendy graduated from Appleton East High School, class of 1977. She participated in sports and choir. Wendy attended UW Eau Claire and graduated in 1982 with a B.S. in Marketing and Business administration. While at UW Eau Claire, Wendy was President of the Beta Upsilon Sigma Business Fraternity. Following college Wendy moved to Minneapolis, MN and worked for Schaak Electronics and Herold Marketing. In 1988 Wendy moved to Chicago, IL and worked for SONY Electronics where she earned many performance awards including SONY's highest honor-the Samurai award. 25 years ago tragedy struck and left Wendy an incomplete quadriplegic. Wendy was able to continue working for SONY and her positive energy was an inspiration to us all. Wendy retired from SONY in 2009 and kept busy taking classes and decorating.

Wendy is survived by her mother Mary Sue Ritchie, her siblings; Mary (Steve) Patton, McHenry, IL, Theresa (John) Holtz Greenville, WI and Bob Ritchie, Appleton, WI. Nieces and nephews; Mathew Patton, Christopher and Jennifer Holtz, Cassidy and Cameron Ritchie and an Uncle, Thomas Mall, Sturgeon Bay, WI. Wendy was preceded in Death by her father Roman R. Ritchie, Grandparents; Leo and Mattie (Bessette) Ritchie, Mary (Hammes) Mall and John H. Mall and a sister-in-law Vicky Ritchie.

A celebration of Wendy's life will be held at later date in Illinois. Scuba diving and preserving the environment were important to Wendy and her wishes were to become part of the Eternal Reef in Florida.

The Ritchie family would like to thank all of the caregivers and friends that have helped Wendy throughout the years. Arrangements and Cremation by Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory, 950 South Bartlett Rd (at Stearns Rd), Bartlett. 630-289-7575 or www.countrysidefuneralhomes.com

My heartfelt sympathy to the Ritchie family. I worked with Wendy throughout her entire career with Sony. Her constant upbeat personality would lift up anyone having a "bad day". She will be remembered most by me for her gift of determination and eternal optimism.
