David Drewes Obituary

David Earl Drewes, 73, of Idaho Falls, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of September 9, 2024, at his home.

Dave was born April 27, 1951, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Kenny and Lois Drewes. He and his brother Don grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls. Dave graduated from Skyline High School in 1970 and attended the University of Idaho, pledging to the Sigma Nu Fraternity.

Dave was a fixture of the Idaho Falls community for the majority of his life, through his work and management of the family business, Drewes Distributing, as well as his long term membership at the Idaho Falls Country Club. He will ever be known as the Coors Man to many. Everyone who knew him could count on Dave as a fun, reliable, and caring friend.

On May 2, 1987, he married his great love, Cher Stone in Idaho Falls, and for 37 years they had many fantastic adventures together. Playing golf, fishing, and traveling with their many friends and family to destinations all over the world, including their second home in Mexico. Dave was always excited to tell stories of their travels, as well as his many golfing and fishing escapades. He was quick with a joke and livened up any party or family gathering with his cheerful and easy-going personality. Dave was an avid sports fan and loved cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys, as well as all the local Idaho Falls teams.

Dave is survived by his wife, Cher; brother, Don (Penny) Drewes of Idaho Falls; and his many Stone in-laws, who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his mother and father in-law.

Thank you to the Hands of Hope Hospice who helped Cher care for Dave in his final months. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Community Outreach Center, 301 So. Blvd, Idaho Falls, ID, 83401.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday October 21, 2024, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 270 N. Placer, Idaho Falls.

"What we have once enjoyed we can never lose, all that we love deeply becomes a part of us." ~S. Kassem
