Murray Duane Harper, 81, of Rigby, passed away Sunday, Feb. 28, 2016, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
He was born May 8, 1934, in Rigby to Murray Charles Harper and Cordelia Bright Harper. He was raised and attended schools in Rigby, graduating from Rigby High School. He continued his education at Idaho State University.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
On June 8, 1962, he married Laura Jean Hess in Rigby. They were blessed with three daughters and one son.
Duane worked for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle, Wash., then as a technical engineer at the Idaho National Laboratory, retiring after 43 years. He also worked at George and Jesse's Tire Store in Rigby.
Duane was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as ward clerk. He enjoyed working, taking day trips, visiting ghost towns, photography, hunting and fishing. He loved his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Harper of Rigby; daughters, Laura Harper of Ucon, Linda Harper of Rigby and Delia McCauley of Rigby; son, David (Stacey) Harper of Butte, Mont.; sister, Roeann Harper of Mesa, Ariz.; brother, Mike Harper of Bosie; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Miley Jean McCauley.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 3, at Garfield 3rd Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop Bryan Hammar conducting. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
