Adolph Arzberger Obituary

Adolph "Ed" C. Arzberger

April 14, 1929 - July 15, 2025

QUEENSBURY - Adolph "Ed" C. Arzberger, 96, passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 with his family by his side.

Born April 14, 1929, in Queens, he was the son of Frank and Bertha (Albert) Arzberger.

Ed attended East New York Vocational School. His various jobs included auto body repair, security at Glens Falls Hospital, and driving the mammogram van throughout the area.

On May 3, 1953, Ed married Erna Bus in Queens, NY. They left the city with Erna's parents and brother to move to Glens Falls in 1956 to establish a family business at The Hitching Post in Lake Luzerne. Ed worked there for several years doing every job needed.

Some of Ed's enjoyments in life were building things, oil painting, golfing, and bowling. He always said, "If I can draw it, I can build it." Ed enjoyed painting pictures, writing poems, and singing his "ditties". He loved and appreciated our Adirondack Mountains and lakes. Most of all, Ed loved his family and he brought them great joy.

He was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge #425, Royal Arch Masons, and the Elks Lodge #81. Ed spent many hours volunteering with Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Explorer Scouts and the 4-H Equestrian Therapeutic Program for Warren County.

In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his siblings, August (Katie) and Frank (Joan) and brother-in-law Edward (Dottie) Bus.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Erna; children, Steve (Pam) Arzberger and Diane (Craig) Goodman; grandchildren, Eric (Meaghan), Justin (Lindsay), Sasha (Maddie), Alena, and Brian (Erin); great-grandchildren, Elliot, Cooper, Isla, and Hallie, and the family is awaiting the arrival of his fifth great grandson this summer. He also leaves several nieces and nephews, cousins and a special nephew, Eddie Bus.

Visitation will take place Friday, July 25, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804.

A brief prayer service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Patrick Wrisely officiating.

A graveside ceremony will follow at Pine View Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to High Peaks Hospice, Neighbors, NY, and HHHN Homeward Bound Program for the wonderful care that Ed and Erna received from them.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to High Peaks Hospice at 1247 Dix Ave. Hudson Falls, NY 12839 or a charity of one's choice.

Condolences may be sent directly to Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury, NY 12804, or through www.bakerfuneralhome.com.

Erna, I am so sorry to hear of Ed's passing. He was such a kind man, and you two were a wonderful couple to spend time with.
I hope he is enjoying a wonderful game of bowling in heaven with Paul. I'll be listening for the thunder as they hit those strikes!
My prayers for you and your family for strength in the coming days. Be sure to share memories with those who loved Ed and shared his life with him.

My deepest condolences to the Arzberger family on the passing of their beloved patriarch.
Mr. Arzberger was one of those rare and remarkable men who seemed to know how to fix anything with just a screwdriver and a hammer. He had a warm, welcoming spirit and a sharp sense of humor that always brought a smile. The world has truly lost someone special.

Goodbye, Mr. Arzberger. Fly with the angels.
