Joan W. (Heissenbuttel) Quick
March 18, 1938 - Nov. 30, 2023
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Joan W. (Heissenbuttel) Quick, age 85, who passed away surrounded by her loved ones on November 30, 2023, after a long illness. Joan was born on March 18, 1938, in Brooklyn, NY.
She was predeceased by her parents, John H. and Winnifred (Rhode) Heissenbuttel. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Donald H. Quick.
Joan graduated from Smithtown High School, Smithtown, Long Island, NY in 1955.
Joan was a busy wife, mother, grandmother, friend, volunteer, and business owner. She and her husband moved to Granville, NY, and started the family business, Foxfield Farm. Their home in South Granville was always the gathering place for the family. It was a place of laughter, comfort, love, and where you could always find a hot meal and a friendly face.
She was an avid animal lover, always having an animal by her side. Joan was particularly passionate about equines, and she passed that enthusiasm on to her children and grandchildren. One of her favorite places was the Washington County Fair, where she watched her family showcase their animals. In addition to her love for animals, she never missed any family event, be it a sporting event, play, concert, birthday party, or any occasion involving her loved ones.
Joan led a remarkably active life. She served as a Girl Scout Leader, 4-H Leader, Sunday School Teacher, and was a past member of the Eastern Star. She was also a member of the North Hebron Book Club, served as the President of the Granville School Board, coordinated the Dairy of Distinction for the Tri-County Region, and was on the Board of Directors for both the Washington County Farm Bureau and Hudson Valley Farm Credit.
Left to share her memories are her sister-in-law, Dolores Quick; daughter, Dale Olsen (Bruce); and sons: Kenneth Quick, Sr. (Diane) and Douglas Quick (Kate), all of Granville, NY; she is also survived by nine grandchildren: Brooke Olsen-Farrell (Christopher), Justin Olsen (Heidi), Kaitlin Ellis (John), and Kenneth Quick, Jr., all of Granville, NY, Erik Olsen (Beth) of Beverly Hills, CA, Karaline Venezia (Christopher) of Saratoga Springs, NY, Lindsey Depew (Nick) of Argyle, NY, Lauren Quick of Cambridge, NY and Audra Quick from Maui, HI; and 16 great-grandchildren.
At Joan's request, a memorial service will be held at the family's convenience.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Northeastern NY in memory of Joan W. H. Quick. You can contribute at https://www.alz.org/northeasternny.
The family expresses gratitude to all those who have offered their support during this challenging time, as well as to the staff at Fort Hudson Nursing Facility. Your thoughts and prayers are deeply appreciated.
