Alice Gauriloff Obituary

Alice Joan O'Grady Gauriloff

BEACON - Alice Joan O'Grady Gauriloff passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the age of 89.

Alice was born on August 25, 1921 in Newburgh, NY to Alice and Joseph O'Grady. She graduated from Beacon High School at age 16, and from the College of New Rochelle with a degree in History at the age of 19.

On July 22, 1944, she married the love of her life, James M. Gauriloff, who survives at home. Last summer they celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. Alice taught at various local schools, retiring in 1980 from St. Joachim's School in Beacon where she taught 4th grade for many years.

In their retirement Alice and Jim traveled extensively around the country and overseas. Alice enjoyed her weekly bridge club and was a voracious reader. Alice loved her family parties and reveled in watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow.

Alice's love is etched in the hearts of her children: son, James and his wife, Kathy, Lehighton, PA; daughter, Ellen Boldrin and her husband, Hank, Hyde Park; son, Joe and his wife, Patty, Beacon; daughter, Janet Hof and her husband, Roger, Salt Point; and son-in-law, John Paille, Rochester.

She will live on in the hearts of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Jeff and Lisa Paille and their daughters Charlotte, Julia and Lindsay; Jenn and Jodi Hooper and their children, Madison and Sam; Mary Paille; Cheryl Paille; Jerold and Janice Gauriloff; Mike Gauriloff and Brittany O'Keefe; Lauren Boldrin and Randall Marquis; Dan Boldrin and Jennifer Kane; Joe Gauriloff and Dana Thorsen; Kim Gauriloff, Alissa Hof and Sarah Hof.

Alice is joyfully reunited in heaven with her daughter MaryAlice Paille, her sister Regina O'Grady Vincent and her brother Dr. Joseph O'Grady.

The family will receive their friends on Sunday, January 30, from 4:00 to 7:00p.m. at Halvey Funeral Home, Inc., 24 Willow Street, Beacon.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 31, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 31 Willow Street, Beacon.

Interment will follow in Old St. Joachim's Cemetery, Beacon.

The family would like to thank the Renaissance Rehabilitation Center 1st floor staff for their loving kindness and concern for Alice while she was in their care.

I can only hope to someday be as good a person as Grandma was. I miss her. I am comforted that she is in Heaven with my mom now.

How saddened we are to hear of Aunt Alice's passing. She was so kind. I'll never forget how gracious she was to permit my father,my three sons, and myself to visit a week before a family wedding. You will be in our thoughts and prayers. May God give you peace.

To the Family of Mrs. Gauriloff,
She was by far one of my favorite Teachers. I was lucky enough to have had both Mrs. Gauriloff's in St. Joachims Beacon. May you find comfort and peace in knowing how many lives she touched. God Bless.
