Annette Rubin

East Greenbush - Annette Rubin died peacefully on December 31st at 7 am in East Greenbush, NY at the age of 99. Born in the Bronx on April 14, 1919, to Sara Poley Rosenberg and Nathan Samuel Rosenberg. In 1939 she married David Nevard, and had two children, Peter and Lance. Annette is survived by her son Lance, her precious granddaughter Lindsay, her nieces, a nephew, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was endeared by the family who lived in Poughkeepsie. Annette was predeceased by a son, Peter; sister Miriam Oppenheimer; brother Elliot; and husbands.

Annette excelled at school and art. She attended Girls Commercial High School, where she acted in plays with a young Susan Hayward. She got a certificate in sculpture at the New York Evening School of Industrial Art in 1937, which provided her with skills she would use throughout her career. In 1952 she moved from New York City to Poughkeepsie, NY. Annette worked throughout her life in creative professions, as a textile designer, art director, and at Wallaces and Lucky Platt, as a fashion illistrator. She was intelligent, gifted and generous with her creations: painting, sewing, bead-work and embroidery. Additionally, she loved swimming which she also enjoyed with her sister. The two of them were inseparable. Later she married A. Louis Rubin. Annette loved learning, reading and crossword puzzles until the day she passed.

Her funeral will be at a family plot on Sunday, January 6, 2019.
