Red Hook - Cecelia Mary Donahue, 87, a longtime Red Hook resident, passed away on Wednesday, May 8th, 2013 at the Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck NY.
Cecelia was communicant of St. Christopher's Church in Red Hook, she also was a member of their Ladies Guild and worked for many years at bingo.
Born on February 15, 1926, in North Lawrence, NY, she was the daughter of the late Regina Lafrancis (Dumas) and Frank Dumas. .
Cecelia married Irving Francis Donahue on May 28, 1960 at Our Lady Of Sorrows Church in Hartford, CT and Irving Francis survives at home in Red Hook NY.
Cecelia took great joy in raising her family. She loved to entertain, was very true to her faith, took great pride in her children, grandchildren and her home.
In addition to her loving husband of 53 years, she is survived by her children and their spouses; Daniel & Marina Donahue of Rhinebeck, Timothy & Susan Donahue of Mendon, NY, Thomas & Jill Donahue of New York, NY, and Christine Williams of Glenville NY, her sister; Theresa Monroe of Brasher Falls, NY, her grandchildren; Alexis, Kaitlynn, & Bryan Donahue, Yegor Stjupan, & Anna Williams, along with numerous nieces & nephews.
She was predeceased by nine of her ten siblings: Francis, Charles, Carl, John, Paul, Raymond, Lawrence, Grace and Gilbert.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the Red Hook Rescue Squad, the Dutchess County Sheriff's Department, Marty and Esther Higgins, Jim and Kelly Blakney, Rev. Patrick F. Buckley and Rev. Xavier S. Santiago in our time of need.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Monday, May 13, 2013 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am when a procession will form. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 AM at St. Christopher's Church, Red Hook. Interment will be at St. Sylvia's Cemetery, Tivoli.
