Daniel J. Silvestri, Sr.

Fishkill - Daniel J. Silvestri, Sr., a Dutchess County resident since 1960, died on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at home in Fishkill. He was 87.

Son of the late Michael and Marietta (DiMarco) Silvestri, he was born in Yonkers on October 31, 1931. In 1950, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served his nation on active duty until he was honorably discharged in 1952.

Daniel was a hardworking man who did everything he could to provide for his family. He was a lifelong self-proprietor, having owned and operated many companies including Golden Coffee Company. He continued to work up until he was in his 70s.

He was a longtime parishioner of St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill. In 1988, he joined Rombout Fire Company, where he became a life member and served as Fire Police. Daniel was also an avid bowler.

On July 24, 1955, he married Irene Alice Pignataro at St. John's Church in Yonkers. Irene predeceased him on August 24, 2016.

Survivors include his son, Daniel J. Silvestri, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Fishkill; his daughter, Linda J. Taft and her husband Charles of Wappingers Falls; his son, Michael J. Silvestri and his wife Lori of Fishkill; his daughter, Irene D. Moody and her husband Brian of Poughkeepsie; his grandchildren, Kristi Ott and her husband Andrew, Charles J. Taft, Jr. and his wife Aimee, Amanda Miller and her husband Peter, Bradley Moody, Casey Silvestri, Troy Moody, Trent Silvestri, and Luke Moody; his great-grandchildren, Hannah and Tyler Ott, Caroline and Eloise Taft, and Charlie Miller; and many other loving relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Daniel was also predeceased by his siblings, Arthur, Vera, Ann, Sue, Thomas, and Al.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 29 at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 30 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson Street, Fishkill. Interment will follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
