Deborah Baldwin Obituary

Deborah Sealey Baldwin

Salt Point - Debby Sealey Baldwin passed away suddenly on July 13, 2021. Debby was born on February 11, 1934 in Southborough, Mass. She was a 1955 graduate of the Stockbridge School of Agriculture and acquired a fondness for the Morgan horse during those years at Stockbridge. She continued owning ponies and horses throughout her adult life. She met future husband Harry while working on a dairy farm in Vermont. They were married on April 15, 1961 in Springfield, Vt. They then moved to NY and have been involved with agriculture ever since. Debby's children were a special love and focus of her life. She called herself a farm wife, combining family and farming. Survivors include her husband Harry W. Baldwin, at home; her children, Karen S. Baldwin, Westborough, MA., David B. (Shirley) Baldwin, McKean, PA., Michael W. (Dawn) Baldwin, Poughkeepsie, NY and Susan H. Gengras, Lake Worth, FL.; her grandchildren, Sarah Baldwin (David & Shirley), Mathew and Evan Baldwin (Michael & Dawn), her sisters, Nancy (John) Burnham and Lucy (Robert) Payson.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 19 from 4-7 pm at Allen Funeral Home, 3270 Franklin Ave., Millbrook. Funeral services will begin at 6:30 pm during the visitation. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Washington Hollow Cemetery, Pleasant Valley. The message I wrote after learning the sudden loss of this special person is as profound now as then. The true meaning of her legacy remains present and inspiring to me daily. People of her quality are rare in today's society. That alone blessed me, and I am so grateful for having known her.

The legacy that Deborah Baldwin gave the world will last for the ages. She was a farmer's wife, that in itself signifies the quality and strength of this wonderful person, not to mention her love and devotion as a mother. I know all to well the contribution of such a person, for I too was blessed to have a farmer's wife in my life.

Debby was a real genuine person who loved agriculture and especially gifted, in animal husbandry. She was a devoted mother and the definition of a "farmer's wife".
She believed in doing things right as well as being open and honest in her comments and advice. We will always value her as a trusted friend who encouraged us in our early years of farming. She was valued and appreciated by many more people than she ever imagined.
As it should be, her legacy will be her children and those fortunate to have known her.
