Giuseppe Mirto Obituary
PINE PLAINS - Giuseppe Mirto, 86, passed away peacefully on Thursday March 17, 2011 at his home in Pine Plains, New York surrounded by his loving family.
Born October 23, 1924 in Monreale, Sicily, he was the son of the late Nicolo and Rosalia (Salvia) Mirto.
On July 29, 1951 in Italy, he married Antonina (Giordano) Mirto. She survives him at home.
He came to Brooklyn, New York on June 15, 1965.
Mr. Mirto started Lia's Mountain View Restaurant in Pine Plains in May of 1983.
In addition to his loving wife Antonina, he is survived by three daughters, Rosalie Cort and her husband Paul of Pine Plains, NY; Maria Wright and her husband Cort of Pine Plains, NY; Vincenza Jackson and her husband Major Keith of Pine Plains, NY; a son, Nicholas Mirto and his wife Ganina of Pine Plains, NY; a brother, Nicola Mirto of Italy; eight grandchildren, Joseph P. Cort, 2nd Lieutenant John B. Cort, Tyler Cerrato, Mackenzie Lennon, Ariana Maria Wright, Marcella Mirto, Mallory Mirto and Kaylie Jackson.
Calling hours will be held Sunday March 20, 2011 from 4 to 7 PM at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 7749 S. Main St., Pine Plains.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday March 21, 2011 at 11 AM at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in Pine Plains, New York, Fr. William White officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Pine Plains Rescue Squad, PO Box 100, Pine Plains, NY 12567 or the Hospice Foundation Inc., 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
