Remembering happy childhood times with my first cousin, LeRoy. He was just 2 years older than me. Visiting him and Aunt Marion in the Bronx at 1444 White Plains Road...taking the train from Ossining to the Bronx by myself at about 9 years old, playing with LeRoy and his friends in the yard in front of their high rise building, playing hide and seek, buying snow cones and catching butterflies in his butterfly net on the field next to Bronx Parkway. I also remember my 2 cousins, him and Starkie “Butch” at our family gatherings, getting chastised by Grandma for chasing each other around her dining room table. LeRoy grew to be an insightful listener with a gentle soul. He loved his family and Catholic community. May his children and his children’s children keep the loving memories of LeRoy (not LeeRoy) in their hearts. We loved him and God loved him more.
