Mark R. Amodeo

Hyde Park - Mark R. Amodeo, 55, a longtime area resident, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.

Born June 19, 1959 in Lee, Massachusetts, he was the son of Mariano V. and Nancy B. Taylor Amodeo. His mother predeceased him in 1998, and his father survives in Wappingers Falls.

As a fine artist and member of the Hyde Park Artist Collective, he participated in many art exhibitions. He was a Fine Arts Graduate of Marist College.

Mark was also a substitute teacher for the Hyde Park Central School District.

Along with his father, survivors include his longtime companion, Sandi Lombardi of LaGrangeville; two sisters, Christa Coates and husband, Roy, of Hopewell Junction, and Cindy Dobson and husband, Chris, of Burnt Hills, NY; two brothers, Vincent Amodeo and wife, Renee, of Vienna, VA, and Timothy Amodeo and wife, Nancy, of Wappingers Falls; and nieces and nephews, Leo Amodeo of Wappingers Falls, Myla Dobson of Burnt Hills, and Roy and Nancy Coates of Hopewell Junction.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, Monday, July 7th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am, Tuesday, July 8th at Regina Coeli Church, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.

Burial will follow in the family plot in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.

Mark's family respectfully requests memorial donations to Wealth-Legacy, Inc., 202 Creamery Rd., Hopewell Junction, NY 12533, to help fund an artistic scholarship at his alma mater, Roy C. Ketcham High School.
