Peter McKenna Obituary
Hyde Park - Peter J. McKenna, Sr., 75, of Auburndale, Florida, passed away Monday, July 9, 2012, at his son's home in Hyde Park, N. Y. surrounded by his loving family. Born December 4, 1936 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., he was the son of James P. & Catherine Dykas McKenna.
He married Theresa L. Malagrino on April 28, 1957 in Mt. Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie, NY. She survives at home. Peter retired from the U.S. Army as a Sergeant First Class in 1996. Prior to his service in the Army he was in the U.S. Air Force. He served his country for a total of 28 years. He was a Past Exalted Ruler of B.P.O.E. #1291 in Auburndale, Florida; Member of B.P.O.E. #275; Polish American Citizen's Club #369 and the Irish-American Club. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and an avid golfer. He is Survived by his Son & Daughter-in-law: Peter J. & Diane McKenna, Jr. of Hyde Park; Daughter: Colleen A. McKenna-Crapser of Poughkeepsie; Daughter & Son -in-Law: Eileen & Scott Tucker of Jacksonville, Florida. Other survivors include a Sister & Brother-in-Law: Maureen & Len Babiarz of Poughkeepsie and Grandchildren: Mary Catherine & McKenna Ann Tucker and James P. & Madison McKenna. A Brother-in-Law and his wife: Louis & Roseann Malagrino of Hopewell Jct., NY. There are several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a Son: James P. McKenna; Sister: Joan McKinstry and a Grandson: Peter J. McKenna, III. Visitation will be Friday, July 13, 2012, 4-8 PM at the Wm. G. Miller & Son F.H., inc., 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10 AM in Our Lady of The Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Church, 299 Hudson View Drive, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Fr. James Garisto will officiate.
