Peter V. Scimeca, 93, lifelong resident of Highland, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021.

Peter was born in Highland, New York on August 21, 1927. He was the beloved son of the late Salvatore and Josephine (Realmuto) Scimeca.

On February 4, 1967, he married Assunta (Sue) Parrella, who passed away in 2016.

He is survived by his son Salvatore Scimeca of Highland, son Peter Scimeca and his wife Nancy of Norwalk, CT, grandsons Albert and James, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was predeceased by his sisters Katherine Gualtieri, Dorothy Anderson, Minnie Ligotino, and Rose Walker, and his brothers Dominick Scimeca and Salvatore Scimeca, Jr.

Peter was a devoted, loving husband, father, and grandfather. He dedicated his life to fruit growing and took great pride in his work and in his community. All that knew Peter are aware that spending time with family, friends, and the community brought him the greatest joy.

The only thing more important to Peter was the health and safety of family and friends. During this time of COVID-19, if you choose to attend the calling hours, the mass, or the cemetery service, please honor Peter by putting your health and safety and that of your loved ones first.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at the Copeland-Hammerl Funeral Home, 162 S Putt Corners Rd, New Paltz.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph's Church 34 S. Chestnut Street in New Paltz immediately following.

The Rite of Committal will take place after the mass at St. Charles Cemetery, Rt.44/55 in Gardiner.
