Ben's mother was my 1st grade teacher in Owego, NY and lived just down Main St. from us in the late 40's and early 50's. She was the best. My father, Patrick, was a good friend & confidant of Ben's and watched over his property on Montrose Tnpk for many years. We had the privilege of hunting this wonderful property from the 1960's till the present. Ben and his dry humor will be missed.

I just received word of Ben's passing and on behalf of the Empire State Society as well as the Newtown Battle Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution our deepest sympathies and prayers go out to the family. Ben was "quite the guy" at any of our meetings and always spoke about his books as well as donated some for raffles. He will be missed.

Ben was a very bright person with many interests. He and my father, Bill Kravec, were friends and loved to discuss all sorts of topics. Ben made a convincing case in A VIRGINIAN IN YANKEELAND that he was a descendant of a secret son of George Washington, Israel Dean. He was active in local politics, having run for Congress on the Democratic ticket at one time.

May God bless you, Ben, son of the Revolution and good citizen of Owego. Thanks for a life of service.
