Dr. Dev Narayanaswamy Devadoss

Dr Narayanaswamy "Dev" Devadoss was born in Kolathur, Tamil Nadu, India on September 17, 1951 and passed away on March 6, 2017 in Binghamton, New York. He was a resident of Endwell, NY since 1994 and had recently retired from the New York State Department of Transportation. His early life was spent in the southern Indian metro area of Chennai India. He then completed his undergraduate and graduate training in civil engineering from Guindy Engineering College, and then the Indian Institute of Technology, both in Chennai, India. He immigrated to the United States in 1980 and completed his PhD in civil engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 1987. He is fondly remembered by a close network of friends in upstate New York, particularly the local Indian community, as well as by many friends and relatives in many of the cities where he lived in the United States, including Florida, Oklahoma and California, as well as in his ancestral home in South India. He is remembered for his emphasis on the American dream, particularly his commitment to environmentalism, civic participation, the primacy of education and hard work for achieving one's goals in life. He had been diagnosed with brain cancer in 2016 prior to his passing following a valiant battle. He will be fondly remembered by his family, large network of friends and colleagues. He is survived by his wife Krish Devadoss of Endwell, NY, son Sabaridas Devadoss, spouse Theresa Devadoss and daughter Dr. Rajitha Devadoss Venkatesh spouse Dr. Kartik Kailas Venkatesh, and two granddaughters, Nalina Thinh Devadoss and Uma Sharada Venkatesh, grandson (and namesake) Keshav Mahadevan Venkatesh; and brother N Banumurthy of Chennai, India.
