Joyce Wescott Obituary
Joyce A. (Murphy) Wescott, 74 of Johnson City, passed away peacefully at home on April 1, 2014. She was predeceased by her parents, Anna and James Murphy and a brother, James Murphy. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert J. Wescott; her children, Susan (Dan) Furch, Deborah (Pat) Palmer, Joseph Wescott, Michael (Robin) Wescott; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Richard (Pat) Murphy, Donald Murphy and many extended family members. She retired from Broome Tioga BOCES. Joyce was a long-time member of St. James Church and also a past member of the Ladies of Columbus. Joyce was a kind and gentle woman who will be missed by all. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at 9:30 am at St. James Church, Johnson City. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 7, 2014 from 4 pm-7 pm at J.F. Rice Funeral Home, Inc., 150 Main St., Johnson City. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

I just learned of Joyce's passing and am very sorry for your loss. I remember her when she would babysit Carolyn and what a kind neighbor she was. She will be missed, but she will be in my thoughts and prayers.

My dad would often talk of his cousins and the days when they were young together. I remember the stories from the last Norovich reunion. We lost dad last March 4th and I wish you peace and God's blessing. I'm sure they're catching up on old times in Heaven together.

My Mother was an inspiration to all of us. She taught us the true meaning of unconditional love. My Mother was able to look past the bad and see only the good in everyone she met.
