Martin J. Covert
of Vestal
Martin J. Covert, 53, of Vestal, passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 4, 2004. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Mary Covert Sr.; and his brother, Edward Covert Jr. He is survived by his wife, Paula Covert; two daughters, Kelly and Catherine Covert, all of Vestal; two brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Mary Covert, Ames, Iowa, John and Patricia Covert, Binghamton; two nephews, John and Blair Covert, Binghamton; mother-in-law, Constance Holoska, Endwell; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Diana Holoska, Endwell, Lisa and Kim Clark, Apalachin, Mark Holoska and Patti VanDyke, Cooperstown, N.Y.; and his buddies, "Rocky" and "Dude". He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving in Vietnam, a retired employee of IBM Endicott with 25 years of service and currently a bus driver for the Vestal Central School District. He was an avid N.Y. Giants fan and golfer. He will be remembered for his love for playing Santa Claus for many children throughout the area.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc., 1905 Watson Blvd., Endicott, with the Rev. John Putano officiating. Burial will follow in Riverhurst Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Pucedo Funeral Home on Monday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Assoc., 1249 Upper Front St., Binghamton, N.Y. 13905.
