Robert Baxter Obituary

Robert E. Baxter, Sr.
of Binghamton
Robert E. Baxter, Sr., 85, of Binghamton, died Wednesday morning, August 29, 2007, at Good Shepherd Fairview Home. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Baxter; a brother, Thomas Baxter; and a sister, Marilyn. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Robert E. Jr. and Jeanne Baxter, Larry and Marie Baxter, all of Binghamton; four grandchildren, Rob and Rosemary Baxter, Bridget and Jason Orchard, Holly Baxter, Brian Baxter; five great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ruth and Ed Ziska, Kay DeLucia, Patrick Monserrate. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Binghamton, and St. Andy's Men's Club. Bob retired from Kroehler Mfg. Co. and played on the first North High School football team. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion Post 1645. Special thanks to the staff at Good Shepherd Fairview Home for their care and concern.
Funeral services will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, 10 Henry Street, Binghamton, Friday at 1:30 p.m. Very Rev. John R. Martinichio, Rector, will officiate. Burial will be in Chenango Valley Cemetery, Hillcrest. The family will receive friends in the Dewees Lounge of Christ Church Friday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Bob may be made to Christ Episcopal Church Restoration Fund. Arrangements are by the J.A. McCormack Sons Funeral Home, 141 Main Street, Binghamton.

85 was the age of my Dad when he passed. I considered that he lived a full life and I am sure that you share this feeling.

I recall Dorothy and Robert as being appreciative of the tunes that I played when I performed at the Holiday Arena dining room.

He now joins that team of former North Hi footballers. On that team they will be the winners of all the games played !!
