I was so saddened to hear about Mrs. Weir passing.
She was a mentor to me while I attended Sonoma Valley High School’s Work Experience Program. I worked in her class at Prestwood Elementary School Kindergarten!
What a fantastic teacher. I learned so much. I moved to Sacramento , went to college and became a Preschool Teacher and Director for many years. Also I’m sure her sons will not remember this but I babysat for Mr. and Mrs. Weir. I hope her family feels Peace knowing Mrs. Weir was such an awesome Lady!!

Gay and I were friends for 50 years. We were Kindergarten teachers when we first met. We had even more in common in family life and retirement over the years. Gay was a talented and inspiring musician. I was impressed by the beautiful singing voices she drew from 30 wiggly 5 year olds. Gay and I traveled together in Europe, Michigan, Arizona, Mexico, and the western coast of the US and Canada.
Even tho Gay had continuing and recurring health issues, she was always ready for an adventure, a celebration, or a new learning experience. We shared cocktails, stories and laughter. I miss the cheery greetings, the great laugh and the compassionate listener who was always ready with a supportive shoulder when needed. Farewell, my friend!

Wow.......Mrs. Weir was my kindergarten teacher at Prestwood back in the day. I lost track of her years ago but I will always remember how she incorporated music into the day as that was my favorite thing to do back then. All these years later, I became a substitute teacher (at Prestwood among other places) and am proud to say Mrs. Weir was one of the teachers I have had that inspired me to go into education myself. Thank you for everything that you taught me Mrs. Weir. Rest in peace.

We met Gay when her family moved onto our street back in the 60's.I used to Babysit for her kids, she did my hair for the prom when it fell down right before my date got there, and she was a best friend of my Mom's for 50+ years. She was always a cheerful fun person. My heart goes out to all who loved her.

Mrs. Weir and Mrs. Zinn (Littlefield) were my kindergarten teachers at Prestwood and Mrs. Weir kept in touch for all of these years. Sending my love and condolences to her family and friends. She was a gem and such an amazing teacher and I feel so blessed to have had her in my life.

With gratitude, I will always remember Gay as my "Cousin Dear" and my friend. Our mothers, Hildegarde and Elvera, were such good sister- friends who enjoyed German cooking, their Saturday morning phone calls and calling each other "Sister Dear." Gay and I loved to talk about so many things including family memories. She was a joy who enjoyed music and art, color and her home, Sonoma and wine, friends and family, laughter and nostalgia. Sweet mother, sweet grandmother, sweet friend and sweet Cousin Dear.

I never had the privilege of meeting Gay in person, but I spoke to her many times with her son, Leo David (Dave). I could tell she was an exceptional woman, mother, grandmother and friend. My heart filled condolences to the entire Weir Family. Tracy Smith

Mavis and I had so many good times when Gay visited Oklahoma. We also enjoyed her hospitality when we would visit Cali. We still talked frequently. She will be missed. Love you Gay! May peace come to David, Sean, Shari and the grandsons.
