Margaret Bariski Obituary
BARISKI, Margaret Irene - Age 86, passed away peacefully in her Santa Rosa, CA home on September 20, 2006. Margaret was born on December 15, 1919 to Burney and Pearl Langston in Reno, Nevada where she was raised and graduated from Reno High School. She is survived by her 95 year old sister, Jessie Holmes of Spokane, WA; son David Bariski of San Francisco, CA; daughter Monica Reis and son-in-law Dennis Reis of Santa Rosa, CA; grandchildren Nicole Reis, Jeremy Reis and Beth Bariski; great grandchildren Desiree Martin, Alyssa Martin and Haley Reis. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Nick Bariski, a career Army officer. Margaret was able to experience life in other parts of the world with her husband as he served tours of duty in Japan, Germany and France. When Nick retired from the Army in 1963, Margaret's family put down roots in San Rafael, CA. She resided there until 2003, at which time she moved to Santa Rosa to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Margaret was very active as a volunteer for Marin Art and Garden's Pathfinder Group and Meals on Wheels (Whistle Stop). Margaret was also an active member of the Retired Officers Wives group, Presbyterian Women's Group of San Rafael and a lifetime member of Military Officers Association of America. All knew Margaret as one of the best "gourmet" cooks way before cooking became such a national craze. Margaret was also a great seamstress and studied the art of Bonsai plant shaping. She was full of life, enjoyed the grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved going to the YMCA to get her water aerobics, but she especially looked forward to the luncheons with the Presbyterian Women's group, Pathfinders, and Retired Officers Wives. Margaret had a heart of gold, was extremely charitable, and lived life to the fullest. Mom, all of us will miss your loving smile, all of your kind words, your un-daunting positive nature and especially your enthusiastic zest for life and love. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Margaret's life on October 14, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church of San Rafael, 1510 Fifth Ave., San Rafael, CA at 11:00 a.m. A reception follows in the Chapel Lounge. A private interment is to be held at a later date at the San Francisco Presidio. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Memorial Hospice, 821 Mendocino Ave., Santa Rosa, CA 95401 or to your charity of choice.
