Pam was the adored only child of Jeannette and Charles Thompson. Born in San Francisco, she enjoyed an enriched childhood in Corte Madera, graduating from Redwood HS in 1977. In 1981 she earned a BA in Dental Hygiene at USC and worked 16 years in the field. A work related injury lead to a career pivot and in 1998 she was awarded a teaching credential from Dominican University. Pam enjoyed 20 years as a 1st grade teacher at Yulupa Elementary before retiring in 2017. In 2005 Pam married the love of her life, Jim Hopkins. Their loving relationship thrived until Jim's unexpected passing in 2016. After losing her home in the Tubbs fire, Pam relocated to Sun City Lincoln Hills. She reimagined her life there with a beautiful home on a golf course and she quickly made numerous close friendships.
Sadly, Pam succumbed to an aggressive and swift bout with ovarian cancer. She handled this severe diagnosis with the same dignity, purpose and diligence that she applied to the many challenges she encountered in her life journey.
Pam was a born leader with great intelligence, organizational skills and attention to detail. She enjoyed a good laugh, socializing, decorating for the holidays, dining out, doing puzzles and playing board games. Pam was devoted to both of her fur babies, Georgie and Giselle. She is sorely missed by her aunt and uncle, Becky and Terry Farabi, other family members, scores of friends, former colleagues and her beloved pup, Giselle.
Pam will be interred with her husband Jim at Morgan Oaks Eternal Preserve, Lincoln, CA. Services will be private. Those who would like to honor Pam's memory may do so by contributing to an animal charity in her name.
