Arya Moti Obituary

MOTI, DR. ARYA Our beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin, uncle, grandson and friend, age 36, passed away August 17, 2006, in Tampa. He was born in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 2, 1970 and at the age of three moved to Riverside, California. He attended Highland Elementary School where he became the chess champion from third grade through sixth grade. He attended University Middle School where he was the student president and county math champion. He then went on to North High School where he was the drum major and his academic decathlon team won the countywide championship in 1988. His Pre-med studies were at the University California of Riverside where he played rugby. A knee injury, playing rugby, made him decide to become an orthopedic surgeon. Upon finishing his medical studies at Western University, Pomona, he did his residency at Botsford General Hospital, Farmington Hills, Mich. There he was co-author of the chapter "Meniscal and Articular Cartilage Injury in the Skeletally Immature Knee," for 2003 Instructional Course Lectures, published by the Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Upon the completion of his studies, he chose to reside in Tampa where he was one of the team physicians for the Tampa Bay Lightning and Storm Arena Football team, receiving the championship ring in 2004. He was also licensed as a ringside physician by the Florida Boxing Commission. In the fall of 2005 he established "The Moti Center for Orthopedic Surgery ' Sports Medicine" in Brooksville, Fla. He enjoyed all sports including snowboarding, rollerblading, indoor hockey and wakeboarding, but most of all he loved his patients and his contribution to their well-being. He is survived by his beloved parents, Dr. Behrouz Moti and Nora Moti; loving sister, Pantea (Steve) Peters; nephew Christopher and niece Brianna Peters; uncle Ismet Takim; aunts Ayten Yonter and Azar Rezazadeh and grandfather Ali Moti. He will be truly missed not only as a dedicated and accomplished surgeon, but also as a kind, caring, humorous, lively human being who has touched so many lives. Everyone who had the privilege of knowing him will cherish his memories forever. The funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 30, 2006, at the Valley View Chapel 3520 E. Washington in Colton CA 92324. Interment will follow at Montecito Memorial Park.

Dr. Moti fixed my right hand...had carpal tunnel. He fixed me up good as new. Seeing him for the first time I remember thinking how handsome he was. I'll never forget him putting that championship ring in my hand to hold and being so impressed by his presence, his kindness and how humble he was. I was truly heart hurt and saddened to hear he passed. God has the best Ortho guy now, and his family has a wonderful angel watching over them. Rest in Paradise Dr. Moti

Today marks the 14th year that my brother has passed away. I’ve been reflecting on his life today this bittersweet Anniversary.
He was a man who had a unsurpassed joy in gathering with friends, and a zest for life unsurpassed by many.
His laugh was infectious
his love of human beings was contagious
and he was a humanitarian.
He partied hard, but loved deeply.

I remember hearing that he did surgery on a broken hand for a boy who had no insurance. His father had reached out to Carol Wisz who was his office manager. And asked her. She ran this past Arya who said “if not me, then who.”
Another thing I remember is that he did physicals for boys needing a sports clearance, at the local foster home because he wanted to help them. In his spare time he donated his services to the Tampa Bay Storm(the now defunct indoor football league).

He loved his techno music, his yellow Hummer, and had many beautiful women in his life.

May today be a time to rejoice,
As Arya always loved a good party. The angels are dancing and singing with him in heaven and we are missing him ever more.

Lovingly thinking of my brother today
Remembering him fondly with tears in my eyes...
Arya was a caring, kind soul who took care of those less fortunate than others in his private orthopedic practice for free.
He had a zest for life unsurpassed by many.
He loved deeply, played hard and was an inspiration to many.
May he Rest In Peace

It has been 13 difficult years since you are gone my handsome, brilliant son Arya. We miss your beautiful face, your wit, your presence indeed we miss everything about you. You continue to live in our hearts and minds. Your niece just got married. You would have been proud of her. Your nephew is finishing Engineering school next year. They both have your intelligence and drive. There are butterflies all over our garden growing on the milkweed plants dad planted for your memory. They fly freely as your soul does. Now 13 medical students received your scholarship grant at UCR Medical School so far and continue to do so for years to come. We love you till eternity. Until we meet again.

Here's a gem from when Arya visited me in Houston when I was supposed to be studying for the bar exam. July 9, 2005. He was so happy trying Tex Mex and could not get enough of the salsa bars (condiments) in restaurants. We also went to a baseball game Astros v. Dodgers. He bought a Dodgers jersey off a guy (literally the shirt off the guy's back). He was so happy the entire weekend.

Arya and his childhood friends.

These four boys around 1976-1979 lived in Kentucky Street, Riverside, CA, always played together and also founded the Kentucky Street Patrol, as they called themselves as a group. They always acted helping the community in the supervision of animal mistreatment, washing cars, and helping the Local Community Center in its activities and workshops. The group consisted of two Brazilians and two Americans that life joined by a great friendship and the dream of helping others. Antonio Fernando (the werewolf), Luiz Carlos (Snow Monster) returned to Brazil in 1979 after their father completed his doctoral program at UCR, and they never returned to California. This childhood dream of helping others made the Brazilian brothers: Antonio Fernando to be a Brazilian Federal Highway Patrol Officer and Luiz Carlos a Brazilian Federal Police Officer. Our friend Arya Moti (cowboy) was always ready to act in the adventures of the group, in as an adult, we learned recently, was a successful doctor, perhaps influenced by the same dream of helping people. The fourth boy was John Johnson, he was always present in the activities, but for some reason did not attend the photo that recorded the Halloween that year. We don´t have current news about him. Unfortunately our friend Arya passed away, as we knew only recently. We made a point of making this record to report that Arya from his early childhood moments was focused on helping others. May God bless you wherever you are Arya!!

Darling Arya,

It has been painful seven years
Without seeing your handsome face,
But only in pictures.
Without hearing your voice,
But only in recordings.
Without hugging you,
But only in dreams.
Without celebrating your birthdays with you,
But only in our memories,
As we did past July 2nd in Paris
Same as we did with you 19 years ago in the same place.

Family will visit you today.
Your cousin Berkay is here with his family.
We will spread rose pedals on your grave
And play your favorite music "Hard Metal Rock".
Steve and dad will barbeque another your favorite "ribs"
We may even have some rum and coke "Captain Morgan"
From the bottle you left behind.
And leave your seat on the table empty,
Knowing you will be with us in "Spirit"

Loving you eternally
Mom, dad, Pantea, Steve, Bri, Chris and the family.
