Kirchner, M.D., Brian, AKA "Doc", - 64, of Absecon, passed away on February 6, 2021, peacefully and with his family at home after an eight-month battle with cancer. Brian was born in Wheeling West Virginia in 1956, he lived in Arizona before moving to Egg Harbor City when he was 11. He was a graduate of Oakcrest High School, Atlantic Community College, Stockton College and the University of Medicine and Dentistry where he received his medical degree in 1987. He went on to Cooper University Hospital where he did his residency in Internal medicine. After completing his residency, he opened his private practice in 1990 on Church Street in Absecon. In 2001, with his wife, Absecon Medical was formed and he employed three physicians and 11 ancillary staff. In 2014, he joined AtlantiCare Physicians group and worked there until July 2020. Brian was a renaissance man. His hobbies and interests were varied and passionate. He was a boater, a hunter, a fisherman, a trumpet player and a collector. He was an avid remote control airplane enthusiast. Brian built over 60 planes and spent many joyful hours flying them and his drone. In 2018, he took his first solo flight as a student pilot with Big Sky Aviation and was able to fly just three weeks ago. He earned his 4th degree Black Belt from Ninja Karate Academy from 1980 to 2014. He loved to travel with Carol, his children, grandchildren and friends. His travel was extensive from Florida to Istanbul, Turkey and every place in between. He is survived by his wife, Carol Jo (Brown); his children, son, Michael Philippou and Tanya Philippou and his daughter, Nicole Applegate and Patrick Applegate; his five grandchildren, Brianna, Sophia, Mia, Josephine and Grace, to them he was the most intelligent man in the world; and his two Cavalier fur babies, Mick and Remi, will miss their daddy and his many treats. As well as his devoted sister, Victoria Ramp and brother-in-law, George Ramp; his brothers, Eric and Kurt Kirchner; his nieces, Jennifer Day and Crystal Kirchner; his great nephew, Stevie Day; and his brother-in-law, James F. Brown. Special thanks are given to devoted caring friends, neighbors, and loyal co-worker, Terry Lindenmuth, who worked along side him for 29 years! Also, to his medical team especially Dr. Naim Nazha, Dr. John Kasper and Compassionate Care Hospice. He is predeceased by his father, Robert Keith Kirchner; his mother, Geraldine Kirchner; and his niece, Candace Kirchner. He also leaves many loyal patients who had trusted their health in his hands over many years of practice and he was thankful for their love and friendship. A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 13th from 9:00 to 11:30 AM with the service beginning at 11:30 AM at Wimberg Funeral Home, 211 E. Great Creek Rd., Galloway, 609-641-0001. Hello Carol
Just this morning I was in Absecon and I spent 15 minutes walking around the Courtyard Offices looking into all the windows and remembering the many dozens of tenants that passed through in my 22 years that I managed the complex. As I looked into Unit D2 I thought of Brian. It wasn't until I got home a few hours later that I received a message from Lynn Ostland saying he had passed.
Brian was my primary doctor for many years and I remember how wonderful and helpful he was to me. He was always a good friend and I enjoyed his many exciting stories. He was a great man and I am happy to have known him for all those years.

I can honestly say that I never minded going to the doctor when he was the guy in the white coat. Dr. Kirchner always made me feel like he had all the time in the world for his patients. I just wish the world had more time for him to be with his family. I am deeply saddened by his passing and thankful that my daughter got to see an example of what a doctor should be like. He was the heart of his practice and I am grateful for his care.

Brian and I first met when I was a surgical technician with Dr Steven Fenichel MD Dermatologist. Brian needed a specialty practice I believe to attend.. before getting his degree.

Everyone that knew Brian should know he would get a little squeamish with blood. I honestly thought he thought Dermatology was just acne and skin cancer etc..

Our intentions were for Brian to assist.. and step in on an surgical elliptical excision.. to remove a significant size skin cancer. I would have Brian step in next to me, where I would assist with the surgery and he could blot and cut sutures.

Well Brian´s eyes opened up wide and I quote him as saying no Lynn that´s alright.. I can stand right here and observe..

I said come on it´s easy I will show you no biggie.. so he comes over next to me and Dr Fenichel asked for a 10 blade to start the cut, I give that he starts the cut.. blood comes out during the cut.. Brian would just need to blot and cut sutures.

I turned to give him the gauze he was as pale as can be, ready to pass out..
I turn to Steve to hold the gauze. I said
I need to get Brian to sit down and give him some smelling salt.

I gave him the smelling salt and told him just you wait.. when you go into practice I will become one of your patients..

I have Type 1 diabetes so the day I became his patient.. his practice was now at The Courtyard! He walked in..
I said come on assist in this elliptical with me. We laughed and from that point on.. I was finally his patient!!

We went through some trials he and I.
He gave me exceptional care worked side by side with my diabetes for many many years.. he cared for me with vaccinations my general care with asthma, illnesses etc..

He was a genuine friend he and Carol both. I honestly am going to miss him with all my heart.. He and I go back 32+ years, I don´t know how I can even find a Primary Dr now.. it´s always been just Brian.. I guess he finally got me back with that elliptical incision surgery lol.

You will be sadly be missed my dear friend.. I will see you up there in heaven, keep a place for me in your practice.. Until then, rest in eternal peace you will never be forgotten..
Love you Lynn Carol I am just a phone call away if you need anything..
I am always here for you

The news of his passing deeply saddens me. I and members of my family were patients of his for decades. He saved the lives of two close family members through his early diagnosis of very serious conditions. As I grew older, I needed to visit more often and actually looked forward to seeing him in spite of my disdain of medical settings. His calm demeanor was always a source of great comfort. Close in age, our conversations during office visits over the years extended beyond my medical matters and into our lives and careers. I will miss the many laughs and gripes we shared during these visits. I wish to extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends and staff. Doc will be sorely missed.

Condolences to the entire Kirchner family. I became a patient of Dr Kirchner back in 2006 upon my retirement in which I had to choose a primary doctor. Finding him was like finding a pot of gold. He was a Doctor throughout one that truly cared and listened to your health concerns & then chatted with you on a personal note as a person. God Bless & Rest In Peace "Doc"
