JOHN STADTMUELLER Obituary



STADTMUELLER, JOHN W. 87 - of Galloway Twp., passed away peacefully at home, December 20, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 2, 1924, and was a lifelong resident of the Germania section of Galloway Twp. He proudly served his country as a Platoon Sergeant during World War II in the 100th Infantry Division of the Army. He was a dedicated lifetime member of the American Legion Post 430 of Galloway and the DAV Chapter 70 of Northfield, and also active in the VFW of Mullica Twp. He was a mason for 40 years and was best known for building beautiful fireplaces. He loved spending time with his family, working in his garden, tinkering in the garage, being the neighborhood handyman, and driving around the farm in his golf cart. He is predeceased by his mother and father, Johanna and John, and his siblings, Frances, Louis and Eleanor. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Josephine; son, John Stadtmueller (Shirley); granddaughters Traci and Lynn; great-grandson Brian; daughter, Rose Gedicke; granddaughter, Jennifer; son, Jim Stadtmueller (Janice); grandsons, David and Kevin. He is also survived by his sister, Marie and brother, Joseph, as well as many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at St. Nicholas Church, 525 St. Louis Ave, Egg Harbor City, between 9 and 10 AM on Friday December 23, 2011. A mass will follow visitation at 10 AM. Arrangements have been entrusted to Wimberg Funeral Home 400 Liverpool Avenue, Egg Harbor City, NJ 609-965-0357. What an honor it was to have known John Stadtmueller during my time serving veterans at the Ventnor Clinic. My thoughts are with his family at this difficult time. Mr. Stadtmueller was a true hero and I am eternally thankful for his service to our Country.
