M. Edna Chance (née Bartholomew), 92, of Vineland, N.J., passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025, in the evening at her home. She had been under the care of family and hospice. Edna was born in Vineland, raised in Millville, and was a longtime resident of Heislerville, N.J., prior to living her final years in Vineland.

She was the daughter of the late Mildred (Ewan) and Charles Yale Bartholomew. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Chance; her son, Dale Chance; and her brothers, Charles, Raymond, Robert, and Frederick Bartholomew.

Edna was a graduate of Millville High School Class of 1950 and later in life received her teaching degree from Glassboro State College. Before retiring with 25 years of service, Edna was employed as an elementary school teacher at the Port Norris school. She was a longtime member of the Port Norris Baptist Church. For many years, she enjoyed swimming at the Y.M.C.A. Pool in Millville. She loved football and rooting for the Eagles and Ohio State. She also enjoyed a lifelong relationship with her grade school friends. They called themselves "Nifty Fifties" and met monthly throughout their lives.

She is survived by her daughter, Teri Watson; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Chance; 14 grandchildren, and their spouses; along with 26 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Murray and Mildred "Lucille" Van Wickler; as well as many nieces; and nephews in the extended Bartholomew and Chance families.

Relatives and friends will be received on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Heislerville U.M. Church, at 238 Main St., Heislerville, NJ 08324, where her funeral service will follow at 12 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
