Rena Battelini Obituary

BATTELINI, RENA (MONFARDINI), 100 - passed away September 30, 2008, three weeks before her 101st birthday. Born October 23, 1907 to the late Joseph and Cesari (Caselli) Monfardini in Landisville, she was a life long resident. She was married to Alesio Battelini on May 1, 1927 for 66 years, before his death in 1993. Rena grew up working on her parent's farm. Along with her husband, they operated many businesses including a dance hall, a general store, a custard stand and an auto repair/gas station know as Battelini's Garage in Landisville. She always took the time to help those in need and care for someone that was sick. She remained sharp as a tack until her death. She remembered the last 100 years as if it were yesterday and was always willing to share stories. Rena enjoyed going out to dinner, traveling and parties at her grandchildren's home and socializing with her many friends and family. You could always see her walking and working in her yard. She is survived by her son, Dominick Battelini of Landisville, son-in-law, Leo Haugen of Landisville, grandchildren: Eileen Boccelli of Landisville, Sandy Monaghan of Forked River, Annette and husband Albert Ralph of Williamstown, Donna and husband Scott Smith of Marmora, Dominick Robbie and his wife Diane Battelini of Vineland, Anthony and wife Kim Battelini of Minotola, Albert and wife Denise Battelini of Vineland, and sixteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and niece Barbara Curcio of Vineland who she helped raise. A church visitation will be held on Saturday from 10am to 11:45am followed by the funeral liturgy at 11:45am from Queen of Angels Parish at Our Lady of Victories Church, 202 NW Boulevard, Landisville. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Victories Cemetery, Landisville. ARRANGEMENTS are under the supervision of Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ 08360.
