BARBARA ABRAHAM Obituary
She was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church. She retired from Central State hospital after 34 years. Barbara Jean Spain Abraham enjoyed life to the fullest. Her pastime was spent dancing, singing, reading, playing numbers, talking and helping any and every one. She was a real down to earth person through the ups and downs of life. She loved her family.
Along with her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Abraham, Sr.; brother-in-law, James Abraham; sister, Rosa Lee Spain McCray; step- mother, Annie Spain and step-sister, Lucille Fisher.
Barbara's precious memories will live on through her devoted sons, John Abraham, Jr. and Ricky Abraham (Lakeisha); step-sons, Michael Strother, James Strother (Denise), Elion Ingram and Shavon Humphrey; step-daughter, Michelle Sandozz (Lester); five grandchildren, Montressa Green (Anthony), Antonio Gregory, Kevin Gregory, Mykell Foster and Oneisha Foster; six great grandchildren, Taniyah Gregory, Z'mayah Beasley, Antonio Gregory, Jr., Lyfe Gregory, Genesis Foster and Lamont Sellers; four sisters, Delores Moodie, Gloria Spain, Gladys Spain and Carolyn Fogg, all of Petersburg, VA; aunt, Shirley Clanton (Joseph); one sister-in-law, Eunice Jones and brother-in-law, William McCray; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Among them devoted Ruth Rollins, Oliver Hampton, Claiborne Moore, Preston, Louis Abraham, Jr., Felecia Spain, Jackie Upton, John Ward, Neil Roney and the 5th Ward Community.
Services will be held 3:00 P.M. Friday, November 9, 2018, at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 1021 Halifax Street, Petersburg, VA, the Rev. Lamont A. Hobbs, Pastor and Rev. Edward L. Fox, Pastor of Springfield Baptist Church, eulogist. The interment to at Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery.

John, Ricky, and family, my wife and I are so sorry for your loss. Barbra Jean was a beautiful, sweet, caring, and kind hearted person. We will never forget her smile and caring ways. She has done well here on earth taking care of her family, helping, caring, and showing love to others. I will never forget the love she had shown to me and my family, at "BIG MA'S" house when we would visit on leave from thee Army. Now, the time has come for her to be in peace and be love on by our heavenly father. She deserves it. Her job here on earth was well done. We will always u and miss u ().

I met"Abraham" as we called her while working together at CSH. She loved life with her laugh,sense of humor & special caring heart. She "danced"& laughed her special memory into my heart. She loved & cared for her patients like no one else could & they loved & respected her like no one else. I would run into her years later,she was always the same,I would say "Girl you are so crazy" which was a compliment that she cherished, she would laugh & we would hug each other & reminiscence. I will miss her.Gone but never forgotten.

My prayer are with the entire Abraham family during your loss. I Barbara Jean, thirty some year ago and she took me under her wing as if she had been knowing me all the time. I was stationed at Ft. Lee and had just had a baby, she told me to go on and continue to work and that she would care for my child while I worked and I'm very grateful for meeting such a wonderful, kind and loving person. I wish that I could have had a chance to tell her thank you one more time, for all that she did for me and my son. May God bless each and everyone's who's life was touched by this loving and kind person to get through their sorrow. I will miss you my friend, RIP

For someone who meant too much and loved by all she knew; who left behind a trail of tears and precious memories, too.
We loved the sunshine in her smile and kindness in her heart, but heaven saw that she was tired which meant we had to part.
And now the dear angels hear our prayer; guard her with your gentle wings and tend her with gentle care.
For she was someone wonderful and words just cant convey how much we wish that she was here once more.
