Erma M. McGee

Mrs. Erma Mae McGee, 68, of 25810 Brunswick Ave., Petersburg, Va. (West Petersburg), went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Feb. 9, 2009, at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Va., after a brief illness. She was a native of Dinwiddie County, Va., where she attended school, and was a retired employee of Central State Hospital with 35 years of service and was also a companion in the Tri-Cities area.

She was born July 15, 1940, and was preceded in death by her mother and father, Charlie and Ophelia Crenshaw, and daughter, Cynthia Crenshaw.

She was a faithful member of Third Baptist Church, Petersburg, Va., where she served on the Usher Board. Erma was a sweet and kindhearted person who loved to smile, have fun and loved her family dearly. She will be missed deeply by all who loved and knew her.

She leaves a legacy of precious memories a loving and devoted daughter, Jacqueline McGee of Petersburg, Va.; two loving sons, Carl and Reginald McGee of West Petersburg, Va.; five loving granddaughters, two of whom were devoted, Toya Oliver and Aliyah Crockett of West Petersburg, Va., whom she helped rear, and Doniesha Oliver of Petersburg, Va., Chealisa Brown and Chaemarra McGee of Prince George, Va.; five loving grandsons, three of whom were devoted, Marquis and Maurice McGee of Petersburg, Va., Shajuan Crockett of West Petersburg, Va., Josiah Wyche of Richmond, Va., and Chaera Brown of Prince George, Va.; three greatgrandchildren, Shamondre Oliver and Jacquelyn Crockett of West Petersburg, Va., and Ty'Aisha Clower of Petersburg, Va.; a devoted aunt, Shirley Bonsell of New Windor, N.Y.; son-in-law, Tyrone Crockett of Petersburg, Va.; devoted friends, Otelia Boswell, Daisy Johnson, Mary Manson, Frances Booker, Joyce Weaver and Cassandra Ross; and numerous cousins and family members too many to name.

A love and remembrance service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Third Baptist Church, Petersburg, with the Rev. Leroy Cherry officiating. Interment will be in Dinwiddie Memorial Park. The remains will lie in repose at the church on Saturday from 9:45 a.m. until the hour of service.
