FLOYD ROBINSON Obituary

God called, Deacon Floyd Archer Robinson home quietly on Saturday, February 13, 2021, a few days before his 76th birthday. Floyd was born February 17, 1945 to Clinton Archer Robinson and Geneva Miles Robinson. He was educated in the Chesterfield County Public Schools and graduated from Carver High School. He further pursued his studies at John Tyler Community College, Richmond Technical Center, University of Richmond, Virginia Commonwealth University, and the University of Alaska Anchorage.

At an early age, Floyd joined First Baptist Church of Centralia. Later he joined First Baptist Church South Richmond. After moving to Dinwiddie County, Floyd joined Sharon Baptist Church where he was ordained as a Deacon in 2002. Eventually, he returned to First Baptist Church South Richmond and was ordained as a Deacon in 2018. He understood what it meant to be a servant leader and he served faithfully on the Deacon's Ministry, Male Chorus, the Men's Ministry, Culinary Arts Breakfast Ministry and Vacation Bible Ministry.

Floyd was employed at E.I. DuPont in 1964 when he got the call to enlist in the military. He joined the U.S. Air Force from 1965 to 1969. After serving in the military, he returned to E.I. DuPont and worked there until 1993. He volunteered in the Richmond Public School System and later joined Chesterfield County Public School from 1995 until 2010, where he worked as a Tutor Monitor and Facility Coordinator. After leaving the school system, he worked at J.M. Wilkerson Funeral Establishment, Inc. as a part-time employee.

One of Floyd's greatest blessings was when he traveled with his wife and church family to the Holy Land, where he was baptized in the Jordan River. It was truly an experience that he was so grateful for.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, Clinton Archer Robinson and Geneva Miles Robinson. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 54 years, Yinestra Robinson; two daughters, Nanette White (Lionel) and Marci Robinson. Floyd cherished his relationship with his son in-law, Lionel, and referred to him as his only son; he adored his only granddaughter, Cambria White; one sister, Deborah Jones; two nephews, Watson Jones, Jr. and Alexander Jones; a long-time devoted friend, Larry Jones, Sr. and many loving cousins, other relatives and friends.

I was so sad upon hearing the news of Deacon Robinson. I remember the first time I met Floyd and Ynestra. I was a newlywed and attending my husband's church, Sharon Baptist in Dinwiddie, VA. for the very first time. I was a stranger in that congregation but Ynestra and Floyd reached out to me and offered their friendship and we continue to be friends 25 years later. A wonderful man with a loving wife. My condolences and prayers go out to each of you in this time of sorrow. Know that GOD will be a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a father-in-law to all that seek him. Sending Hugs and Kisses to you all...Love Always!

Floyd Robinson is my mother's first cousin, but I have always referred to him as my Uncle. He set a wonderful example of what a husband, father, grandfather, mentor and Man of God should be. He was an inspiration to me as a child and even as I became an adult.

I thank God for Uncle Floyd and want to also thank Nanette and Marci (who are like sisters to me) for sharing their Dad with me. He is alright now. We will miss him, but we can continue celebrating him and be grateful for the times we shared. This is just a brief pause because one day we will see him and all of those that had gone before him again.

I have often viewed Uncle Floyd and Aunt Yinestra as second parents to me. Uncle Floyd could not have asked for, or even imagined a more devoted and dutiful wife than Aunt Yinestra. They set the bar high and showed what it means to love each other for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health. They never left each other’s side and share a love that is eternal.

Aunt Yinestra, Nanette, Marci, Cambria and Lionel – The weather kept us from being there with you today, but we send love and prayers from me, my mother Jill, Angie, Jordan and Joshua. We are here for you and love you all very much.

He was fun to be around and was always serious. May he Rest in the Home that His Heavenly Father had Prepared for Him, in His New Home, Heaven!! Pray that all of his family member will Be Blessed, and Be Safe, as they go through this tome of sorrow. Know that, "To Be Absent From The Body, Is To Be Present With the Lord"! Deacon Floyd A. Robinson what a man of high character and great morals that he often times demonstrated to anyone who known him. I first meet Deacon Robinson, back in 1994, as his daughter Marcia was a Student at Saint Paul's College, and I was a member of the Campus Police Department at the campus. My mother had went to school at Carver High School with Marcia Mother and Father, so we became very close friends. This union grew us together as friends and a bond that will never lose its power, just like cooling water running down a warm mountain stream. Well Deacon Floyd Archer Robinson, until we meet again in that Holy City of God called heaven, May you rest, and to God be the Glory.

With Sympathy,

Retired Colonel Robert W. Robertson, Jr.

Saint Paul's College

Dad,

You know I am always up late either working or watching (Lifetime) lol yes my favorite channel. Tonight a day after of would’ve been your 76th birthday I am up writing this note to you. I had to reach deep in my soul to apologize for being so selfish and rude to the most high (GOD) for taking you away. GOD saw your fight for almost two years of being diagnosed. It saddened me see you not feeling well and also you trying to hide things and try to smile and laugh it off lol ( Mom knew lol Nanette knew and I knew). We (Nanette and me) will take care of mom) don’t you worry lol but I know you will pop in from time to time to check on her lol. Bella and Liya knew something was not right when you did not come home. We know you are watching them too. Nanette and I will be just fine and no need to worry like we tell you all the time lol. We will always love you and we hope you heard us at the hospital singing to you, telling you to fight and not give up. Just like the Airforce motto: Aim High and Fight. That is actually what you did. My true Air Force Vet. I left two of your pride and joy Air Force caps I got for you while I was working at the Pentagon Washington DC and at Langley AFB. You know I had to follow your footsteps just not to enlist in the military lol. I know you wanted me too (reserve) I do apologize. You saw us through our good, bad, and indifferent. I hope I made you proud in my accomplishments because even though we had some rough patches I still pushed through and completed my mission and you saw me through all. So dad keep on sleeping with the angels and celebrating with the rest of the family snd friends. We will be fine here will keep on making positive progress. I won’t have to tell you because you will see it all. Oh and if you visit please let me know lol. May have some of that good fish and crabs you love. Give the family lots of kisses.

Love you dad
Marci
