JERRY FRINK Obituary

Jerry Wayne Frink Sr., of Hopewell, passed away peacefully alongside his family at his home on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, James W. and Beatrice Robinson Frink; brothers, Jake, Gene and Bobby Frink. Jerry was born and raised in Hopewell, Va. He cherished his memories as a tight end for the Hopewell Blue Devils football team, and played basketball and tennis through his last days. Jerry was employed with Firestone for 32 years. Every five years, he actively planned for the reunion with his classmates from the Hopewell High Class of 1963. Jerry was a member of West End Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and loved tending to the church grounds.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Dianne; three children, Jay Frink and his wife, Laurel, Steve Frink and his wife, Kathy, Dawn Fetzer and her husband, Scott; sister, Helen Gregory. His first grandchild, Sydney Hope Frink, named him 'Pop' and he has been 'Pop' ever since for all of his additional grandchildren, Taylor Scott Fetzer, Cooper Reef Frink, and twins, Kasey Summer and Colby Finn Frink. There was no doubt his best times were spent with his grandkids attending sports events, school programs, or just simply 'hanging out.' He eventually became known as Pop to everyone, including his family, and many treasured nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at West End Presbyterian Church, 1600 Atlantic St., Hopewell, VA 23860. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at West End Presbyterian Church, and he will be laid to rest in Appomattox Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to West End Presbyterian Church, 1600 Atlantic St., Hopewell, VA 23860, where it will be shared with West End Christian School and Peace and Grace Ministries. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com.
