JOHN EANES Obituary

John Kenneth Eanes (JK Baker), 79, of Chesterfield, Va., died peacefully at his home November 4, 2016, after a period of declining health and brain cancer. Born to German Baker and Edith Hoyle Eanes, John was a U.S. Navy veteran, radarman 3rd class petty officer. He retired from Honeywell after 33 years. He was preceded in death by both parents; two brothers, Ronald Baker and Gary M. Eanes. John is survived by his wife of 50 years, Doris Fitts Eanes; son, Kenneth Wayne Eanes; and son-in-law, Herman Kitchen of Emporia. Survivors also include sister-in-law, Mary Lou Russell, husband Mark of Colonial Heights; two brothers-in-law, Warren L. Fitts, Robert L. Fitts, wife, Nancy of Chesterfield; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was a member of America Legion Post 3284 and Ettrick Hunt Club for 44 years. John was very proud to tell people he was born and raised in Battersea and spent his boyhood days fishing with his best friend, Samuel Ellison on the Appomattox River. He would also like to remember his friend, Charles Ellison who helped ease his anxiety of death, during his illness. John also wanted to remember his good friends, Ike Williams, Mark Rutledge and John Kennedy. John loved hunting and fishing, bluegrass music and a good wood fire more than anything else in this world. As per John's wishes, he will be cremated and laid to rest in private, in the family square in Blandford Cemetery. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Condolences may be registered online at www.jtmorriss.com.

So very sorry for your loss. He was a great friend and sportsman and will be sorely missed at the river. I will think of him often.
