JOSEPH GUPTON Obituary

Joseph Bobbie Gupton Jr. "Joe-Joe" passed away suddenly on April 3rd at the age of 47. Joe-Joe is survived by his son, Joseph Nicholas Gupton; grandson, Noah Gupton; his parents, Joseph and Marti Gupton of Prince George; sister, Vicki Martin; brothers, Robert Duane Ayres, Steven Ray Gupton and Michael Allen Gupton Sr.; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Kathy Bucciarelli.

Joe-Joe was born on July 6, 1968, in Greensboro, N.C. He graduated from Prince George High School in 1987. Joe-Joe was a loving son, brother, uncle, father and very passionate about being a grandfather to his grandson, Noah. He was the nieces "favorite uncle!" When not spending time with his family, Joe-Joe enjoyed a fast paced life that included sky diving, motorcycle riding, fast cars, and was an avid NASCAR fan and pool player. Joe-Joe was a member of Monumental Baptist Church, and most importantly he had a simple yet real trust in God through Jesus Christ. His family and friends will miss him dearly.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 8th, 2016, at Monumental Baptist Church, 2925 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Va. Joe-Joe's brother, the Rev. Dr. Steven R. Gupton, will officiate the ceremony with the Rev. Barry Ginn graciously assisting. Entombment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Joe-Joe's life. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2016, at the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, VA 23805. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.

I met Joe many years ago when he serviced our copiers on Fort Lee. He was such a kind person. I've run into him on several occasions over the years. We always hugged and conversed and he was always smiling. I will keep his family in prayer during this difficult time.

Joe and I worked together at Select Office/ Danka for many years, but most important we were not just co-workers, over the years we became family. He and Kathy came out to join us to listen to my son's band , he was one of the first to make sure I was ok when my husband, George , passed away at the end of Demember , and we had recently decided to get together for lunch as soon as I was able. Unfortunately, I will not get that lunch with Joe. Not only was he such a caring man who loved many, through his sudden tragic death, he taught me never to put off what you can do today because tomorrow is never promised to any of us. Heaven gained another angel and I pray George and Joe are together talking and laughing Rest in peace my dear friend. You will be missed .

Joe fixed our machines at our job. We got talking about how much we both liked motorcycles while he was fixing my printer. He was a good man. Always smiling

Heaven truly gained an angel. Joe and I knew each other through school and remained friends through the years thanks to FB.
I enjoyed sharing in his journey through life as friends through FB and could see how much he loved his mother, father and grandson, along with his many friends. He shared so many photos and always looked so happy whenever he was with his loved ones. We would chat from time to time, he always had such nice things to say and never anything negative. Even when it appeared he was hurting, he always seemed to show his happy side. He will be truly missed by so many!
Lots of prayers and love sent to the entire Gupton family & friends!!

Though your face we can no longer see, forever in our hearts you will always be. You're in the Savior's presence...rejoice my friend!
