Mary Williams Obituary

Mrs. Mary Frances Woodley Williams, of 2914 Exeter Mill Road, Church Road, Va., peacefully departed this life on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at her residence surrounded by her daughter, Mary Alice, and her aid ,Katherine Moore.

Mrs. Williams was born on Aug. 20, 1921, in Amelia County, Va., to the late Lubin and Mary Frances Woodley. At an early age, she became a member of the Branches Runn Baptist Church, Amelia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Corbin Williams; five children; and two granddaughters. She will deeply be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She leaves to cherish a legacy of precious memories, her daughters, Dorothy M. Hayes (Henry) and Helen Johnson, all of Amelia, Mary Alice Williams of Church Road; two sons, Benny Williams (Catherine) of Richmond and Samuel Williams (Carolyn) of Petersburg; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two sisters, Annie Jackson of Ford and Eleanor Brown (Solomon) of Amelia; four brothers, Deacon Frank Woodley (Rosa) of Amelia, Thomas Woodley (Pat) of Blackstone, Wade Woodley (Virginia) of Petersburg and Benny Woodley of Ford; and a host of nieces and nephews, and many loving friends.

The family would like to give a special acknowledgement to the HCC Home Care for the care they gave our loved one.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at Branches Runn Baptist Church, Amelia, with the pastor, the Rev. Alonza Williams, officiating and the Rev. Wade Woodley eulogizing. Burial will commence at the church cemetery. The family will assemble at noon at the residence for the procession. Public viewing will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Joseph M. Johnson & Son Funeral Home, 530 S. Sycamore St., Petersburg, (804) 863-4411.
