MARY WINBUSH Obituary

Mrs. Mary Winbush was born on September 12, 1927, to the late Carrie Douglas Green. She departed this earthly life early Sunday morning, July 24, 2016, as God called her home to eternal rest. She was born and raised in Dinwiddie County where she attended Dinwiddie County Schools.

She was a faithful member of the Bibleway Christian Center, where she served as a member of the Women Ministry, Pastor Aide and the combined choir. She also attended Besthada Bibleway, Star of Hope Ministries, and Shiloh Temple.

Mary enjoyed attending the Bibleway Conventions every year, where she would travel far and near for the conventions. Her hobbies were fishing, crocheting, sewing, and shopping where she would order from all the latest clothing magazines. She was a lady of style and fashions and she loved shoes.

Mary's highlight of every day was sitting on her front porch where she formerly lived at 1034 Farmer Street for over thirty year. Her favorite television shows were Wheel of Fortune, TBN-Praise the Lord, and 700 Club, where she would call-in to place family and friends names on the prayer list.

She was employed at the Central State Hospital and was a dedicated worker in Forensic Unit for over thirty-five years.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Carrie Douglas Green; a sister, Rosa Byrd; and her foster brother, Marvin Swiney.

Mary leaves to cherish fond memories, one brother, George Douglas of Summit, N.J., devoted children, James Winbush (Shirley) of South Chesterfield, Va., Jerry Winbush (Margaret) Newport News, Va., Mary Arrington of Atlanta, Ga., and Carrie Brown of Maryland; fifteen devoted grandchildren, Constance Scott (Joseph), Amanda Ryles (Jerry), Jackie Frasier Banks (Larry), Darnella Billups, Shirita Winbush, Nafessa Knight-Walker, Terry Winbush, Artemus Winbush, James Arrington, Jr. (Lorretta), Jeffrey Arrington (Sienna), John Arrington (Yvetta), Maurice Brown, Jamal Blue, Irving Blue, and Cleveland Morgan (Katrina); devoted great-granddaughters, Latosha Wilkins, Brianna Scott, Keyonna Scott, Ashley Brock, Brittany Arrington, Bria Arrington, Destiny Maufas, Sarah Arrington, Reagan Eley, Nichole Frasier, Jasmine Banks, ZaNariah and JaMyah, TaNajah; two great-grandsons, Damineak Billups and Darnell Billups (Angelique); great-great grandchildren, Harmony, Kynley, Julie, Kassidy, Kennedy, Cameron, Milton Jr., and Darnell Jr.; special friends and family, Angelia Swiney, James Arrington, Sr., Tonya Birt and the Thomas family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

To The Winbush Family,

Words cannot express our sorrow on the loss of your dear matriarch. May you take comfort in knowing that she is no longer in physical pain or discomfort, and that she will now live in eternal life with her Lord and Savior.
AS you go through the days ahead, please know that our family hopes to be as much as a support for you as your family has been to us over the years.
May God bless and keep you all.
