PAULINE WILKINS Obituary

Pauline Washington Wilkins was born on Aug. 11, 1946, to the late Deacon Byron D. Washington Sr. and the late Deaconess Louvenia Turner Washington in Petersburg, Va. She entered into eternal life on April 19, 2014.

She attended Chesterfield County Public Schools. Pauline was married to Calvin Chavis Sr. for many years and from that union Valerie, Vivian, Calvin Jr., Vicki and Mumin were born.

Pauline was a member of Trinity Baptist Church as a young adult and later became a faithful and dedicated member of Metropolitan Baptist Church in Petersburg, Va. She served on the Praise Team, Usher Board and Finance Committee. She attended Sunday School and Bible study on a regular basis.

In August of 1996, Pauline married Curtis L. Wilkins. Pauline retired from Lucy Corr Nursing Home in Chesterfield, Va., to care for him as his health began to fail. They loved each other until the Lord called him home in April 2004.

She was presently employed at Concordia Home Healthcare and provided loving and compassionate care to all her patients over the years. Pauline was a beautiful person inside and out. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends were her ministry. She wanted and encouraged every one of them to have their own personal relationship with her Lord. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and desired for the ones she loved to love Him too.

Pauline was joined in death by her daughter, Vicki, her granddaughter, Missy, and her great-grandson, Delvari. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Lee Wilkins; parents, Deacon Byron D. Washington Sr. and Deaconess Louvenia Turner Washington; son, Shaeed (Calvin) Chavis Jr.; granddaughter, Zelukia Chavis; siblings, Anna Harris, Edith Robinson, James Washington, Richard T. Washington, Beatrice E. Washington, William C. Washington, Gwendolyn Weaver.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Vanessa Washington of North Dinwiddie, Valerie Jones (Robert Sr.), Vivian Chavis, both of Petersburg; one son, Mumin Chavis (Riverdale, Ga.); grandchildren, Daniel, Davon, Delmon, Gekia, Jamon, Javon, Kenashia, Kenyonia, Kyron, Martell, Paige, Pierre, Robert Jr., Samuel, Shay, Shakiya, Tynesha, Tyquesha; 35 great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

To be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Metropolitan Baptist Church.

A celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, 800 Augusta Ave., Petersburg; the Rev. Dr. Wesley K. McLaughlin, pastor, the Rev. Lamont Hobbs, pastor of Metropolitan Baptist Church, Petersburg, eulogizing and Bishop Vincent Harris, pastor of Cathedral Deliverance Ministries, officiating. Interment will follow in Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery, Petersburg.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the staff of William N. Bland & Son Funeral Home, 137 Harrison St., Petersburg. For more information or to leave an online condolence, please visit blandenterprisesinc.com.

TO THE WASHINGTON FAMILY:
WORDS CAN NEVER EXPRESS OUR DEEPEST THOUGHTS,LOVE & CONDOLENCES OF THE LOSS OF YOUR LOVE ONES
.
MARGIE AS WE KNOW, GOD Make No Mistakes. What the Enemy Meant for Bad, GOD MEANT FOR GOOD. Our Hearts hurt immensely for you and YOUR family. Nothing could be more painful than the lost of family members. But we must understand as painful as it is, GOD REMOVE those BEAUTIFUL Souls to PREPARE you for SOMETHING HE HAS here on Earth and/OR there in HIS Kingdom THAT HE HAS TO BE DONE. IF NOTHING MORE THAN BRING EACH OF YOU CLOSER TO HIM. We never know the minute, the hour nor the way. HE never promised Our Lives would be a BED of ROSES here on Earth; HE promise us Life and more Abundantly if we follow HIM. So rest assure Pauline, Vicki, Missy and that beautiful little Angel are Resting in Peace. Cry as you must because we are never prepared for a crucial time as this. Yet, be happy knowing they are Resting in HIS ARMS where there is no more Pain or Sorrow.

If you will allow me to say what I BELIEVE Pauline would say to you. FAMILY,WE are RESITNG IN PEACE NOW. WE ARE HERE IN THIS BEAUTIFUL PLACE CALL HEAVEN.IT IS SO BEAUTIFUL I WISH TO SHARE W/EACH OF YOU ONE DAY. NOW go and live as you never lived before, Continue to serve GOD The Father as we have always Done and Be Ready When He call Your NAME. JUST BE SOMEWHERE LISTENING.I PROMISE TO Save a Seat for YOU. I love you and continue to support each other as we have always done. Thanks for all the LOVE that is pouring out here today. This is what Family and Friends are all about.

Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel about the loss of your family. May the love of those around you help you through the days ahead. May you take comfort in knowing an angel is watching over you. Our hearts are with you in this time of sorrow. May the peace that comes from the memories of love shared comfort you now and in the days ahead.
