(Anto) passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 27th surrounded by family. The son of Armenian Genocide survivors, Anto was born on April 14, 1932 in Providence, RI to Mariam (Garabedian) and Stepan Mesrobian and grew up in the historic Smith Hill section of Providence on Candace Street.
Anto went to Providence Vocational Technical School where he began learning his chosen trade and profession as a cabinetmaker. He served his country overseas during the Korean War. After the war, he returned to RI and became a master cabinetmaker, working for 44 years at Hope Store Fixtures and Modern Industries, before retiring in 1994.
Anto married Carol Bedrosian on August 22, 1965 at Sts. Vartanantz Church in Providence, and they made their home in North Providence. He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol, of 53 years, son Steve of Foxboro, MA; son Mark and his wife Bried (McGowan) of Narragansett, RI and daughter Stephanie Killian, her husband Ari and two adored grandchildren, Aline and Ara, of Glenview, IL.
Anto was very proud of his Armenian heritage, devoted to his wife and family, especially his grandchildren, and had a deep love for his church.
Anto's funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 9:45 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am in Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, 402 Broadway, Providence. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 from 4 – 8 pm.
