At Donny's core forever lived a true American hero, a Patriot of the highest order, a two-tour US Marine Infantry combat veteran. I know. I served side by side with him for both our second tours. He was then, and remanined to this day, my very best friend ever. Together,we both walked "The Warrior's Path" and together, we both paid the highest price; permanent psychological scaring as well as twice wounding from enemy fire. He literally exemplefied JFK's call to "pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty." As a Sergeant, he consistantly placed the welfare and safety of those under his charge above himself and always lifted the spirits of those around him with jokes, pranks, and words of encouragement at times when the faint of heart began to wither. Semper Fidelis, my brother. I am proud to have served with you and to call you "friend."

This song I wrote years ago is now dedicated to Sgt. Don, 2nd Platoon, 2/5, the most highly decorated Marine battalion in the Viet Nam war.

Donny often told me this was his favorite song....

Sleep well, guarding heaven's gates, my friend. See ya after awhile.... Hoo- Rah!

No One Knows
copywright 1992, Marc C. Waszkiewicz and Lea Jones

No one knows how it feels to be workin' side by side
Countin' days, monsoon mud... no one knows except for you.
No one knows how I feel with my brothers all around me,
They keep me laughin', keep me high... no one knows except for you.

No one knows how this feels, in the jungle every step
Is a wager with the devil, no one knows except for you.
No one knows how it feels, hell breaks loose and the bullets fly...
A brother dying, am I cryin'... no one knows except for you....

You're my brothers, you're my friends,
Like I'll never have again.
Men I'd die for if I was called,
And no one knows except for you.

No one knows how it feels, headin' home with solemn vows
To remember and get together... no one knows except for you.
No one knows except for you... no one knows....

(transition interlude)

No one knows how this feels, seeking peace and reachin' out,
Pull together... or let it go... no one knows except for you.

You're my brothers, you're my friends,
Like I'll never have again.
Men I'd have died for if I'd been called,
And no one knows except for you.

No one knows... except for you.
Ah, no one knows... except for you.
Ya, no one knows... knows... knows...
No one knows...
Except for you... you... yaaaa....

You're my brothers, you're my friends,
Like I'll never have again.
Men I'd have died for if I'd been called...
Men I'd have died for if I'd been called...
Men I'd have died for if I'd been called...
And no one knows... no one knows...
No one knows... knows... knows... knows... knows.......................
